Folks in the U.S. saw this in a Hyundai email today:

"Available winter 2021. Currently, 2022 I0NIQ 5 will only be sold in AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, IL, ME, MD, MA, NJ, NY, OR, PA, RI, TX, VT, VA, and WA. Additional state availability coming in early 2022."

It is unclear if this was someone with a reservation or just interest.

I received the same email and it’s also on the website. Not surprised and I wouldn’t mind the delay if it means getting all the features and not paying a higher price because of parts shortages.
I wish I knew what “winter 2021“ meant. There’s not a lot of winter in 2021. I assume that really means early 2022.
I really wish they would just say “here’s why it’s delayed and on this date you’ll find out more information“.

Don't forget we got this bit of info today as well:

"There’s more! You’ll also get a first look at the IONIQ 5 EV Wednesday, September 22,

8 AM–12 PM PDT on Hyundai Showroom Live
at HyundaiUSA.com. Ask questions and get answers live. So save the date—you won’t want to miss out."

I saw showroom and thought they where going to show the Ioniq 5 at showrooms and then I saw "Hyundai Showroom Live at HyundaiUSA.com". Never mind.

What questions would anyone really have besides price, real availability, standard features and options. Maybe seeing the car in-person too.

With regards to Winter 2021 I am with @J333 they really mean early next year.

I understand with the current situation delaying the Ioniq 5 in the US. It is well documented the delays and cost increases across all industries.

Just don’t understand how pricing and standard features is still a guess. The Showroom live event is nearly 4 months after you could place a reservation. This is assuming that information will be provided on that event. It maybe even longer.

I know the VW ID.4 wasn’t the smoothest reservation process for the FE orders but at least you had upfront pricing and knew most of the features day one.

I reserved an IONIQ 5 on day one, and while disappointed, I might be better off financially by waiting until 2022. This year I probably won't have $7,500 in federal tax liability, and Congress may change the rules for incentives, possibly for the better. On top of that, one California incentive program ran out of funds for 2021 and won't accept new applications until 2022. I suppose I'll also get to see many other new EV introductions through the rest of this year, and maybe a few will show up in auto shows.

Underlying factors are probably good reception and sales in Europe and Asia, combined with chip shortage. No point in selling cars you can’t produce. We only got Tesla y in Europe now for that reason. And pricing is lower in the USA, Tesla y, the reference, is a lot more expensive here. So probably higher margin for Europe sales vs USA sales.

What's interesting is that KIA released a brand new commercial with Simon Cowell at the helm of the brand new EV6 for the NA market. I don't recall seeing any new US IONIQ 5 ads. Could this mean that the EV6 will arrive here earlier than the recently delayed I5?
Sadly he says nothing about the EV6 but brags about achieving residency in Vegas. Morrissey had also done a residency in Vegas but isn't in an EV6 Commerical, wtf.

Are you sure Kia released a commercial or Kia shared NBC’s commercial with sponsored product placement ;)

I also received the email stating the delay until winter. Another interesting point I found in the very small print in previous documents was that you HAD TO PURCHASE the IONIQ 5 by the end of 2021 to get the 2 years of free 30-minute charging. With the delays, I will keep an eye open to see if that is extended. Very interesting that this limitation existed at all.

Would be great if a moderator could merge these two threads. No need for two independent discussions.

Fall 2021 is now Winter 2021
A few websites state that the Winter delay may have been a mistake (despite the site still saying winter).
Why I was hoping threads could be merged as this inaccuracy was discussed in the other one.

I honestly think producing started sometime in August. The "winter update" really meant that they still need time to figure out the MSRP. :ROFLMAO::LOL::giggle:😂🤣
Particularly since the Showroom Live host said production for the US started in August for RWD and early September for AWD (or vice versa).

I think he is referring to the live broadcast that is scheduled for tomorrow. I personally doubt there will be any new information. But I am hoping they will show a production car versus the pre-production they had on the 3 previous days of live broadcast.

I was referring to the live broadcast tomorrow.

How many more times can they show the car without pricing? We now know the features of each of the 3 trim level. Now we need to know the pricing and availability short term (for 13 states?) and long term for all 50 states.

Audi finally came out with their info (pricing, specs and trim levels) on the Q4. The Ioniq 5 needs to be next.

Wow, that’s some pretty strong pricing from Audi. I’m thinking Kia is sweating a bit knowing they priced the EV6 first edition at $58,500. Price pressure on Hyundai is a great thing for us!

Delays delays its to be expected in 2021, good things come to those who wait. I tossed $500 down on an pre order EV6 locally and will take whichever presents itself first and offers the best value. The rear vehicle appearance is actually looking better than when I saw it initially and I can live with it, the higher speed trips appear to favor the EV6 for range on the highway due to aerodynamics but consumption still seems a bit higher. Would really like to see both in person to compare fit finish before opting for one but probably will not be likely in Canada...
