I hope to own an Ioniq 5 in the next few months. But I want to make sure I can attach my Rocky Mounts bike rack on the car. It uses a 2” receiver to mount to the back. Does anyone know if there is a receiver type hitch for this car?
That seems higher than what has been reported with the Ecohitch. Interesting8 inches from ground to bottom. So 10 to top of 2 inch adapter
I think it’s inline with the original (the guy who got it fitted for free in exchange for stealth using his car)That seems higher than what has been reported with the Ecohitch. Interesting
So there are two connectors when removing the bumper, so if they got that far they may have forgotten to put one back? One is pretty small in the middle which I’m pretty sure is the back camera the second is a massive connector and I presume feeds all the various sensors etc. maybe they didn’t put it back on? Do your back up sensors work?is there some ongoing concern here (other than to avoid UHaul)?
OK, the plot thickens (and clarifies)...So there are two connectors when removing the bumper, so if they got that far they may have forgotten to put one back? The cable that connect to the tail lights (including the directional/turn signal) can be accessed by popping off the black trim covering the light enclosure at the back then there are two screws to remove and you pop off the entire light enclosure. Once removed theres a waterproof connector to unscrew which gives you access to the 4-5 pin connector which hooks up the entire light enclosure to the carOK, the plot thickens (and clarifies)...
I went back to the Uhaul shop that started to fit the hitch and then gave up while in process. I talked to the individual who did the deed, he stated that the only wiring he disconnected were the two going to the taillights. He seemed straightforward and said that I should take it to Hyundai and send UHaul the bill. I call the nearest dealer certified for Ioniq5 and as I was explaining to him the problem (no right directional, no lane change assist) we both realized that a disconnected (or burned out) directional would keep the lane change assist from working.
Now the issue is, how do I access the cable that connects to the directional "bulb" (it is an LED). All the other electronic aids are working, by the way.
Thanks, I will investigate...The cable that connect to the tail lights (including the directional/turn signal) can be accessed by popping off the black trim covering the light enclosure at the back then there are two screws to remove and you pop off the entire light enclosure. I very much doubt you can change individual bulbs I would presume the entire enclosure would need replacing?
Wait - what should be cut then? Not the tabs on the gravel guard, but something else should be cut? I'm dropping mine off at the mechanic next week and want the correct instructions! The PDF seems the same online....Also I discovered a mistake in stealths instructions on the cutting of the guard. It says to cut two tabs off the guard DO NOT DO THAT. Instead the tabs are on the inside of the actual bumper piece, I’ve let them know so hopefully they will update the instructions
But if you don't cut the gravel guard at all, then you can't even access the hitch attach point, right? They must have cut something!I had them not cut the gravel guard ... but it interferes with getting it off. now I need to do it myself ... grrrr
So....you recommend cutting the tabs like Stealth says to do (off of the gravel guard) and on the bumper (where the tabs would connect to)?Sorry, they cut the gravel guard, not the bumper. I would recommend they also cut off the tabs and part of the bumper as Andy did above.
Yeah they havent updated the instructions. So two cuts need being madeWait - what should be cut then? Not the tabs on the gravel guard, but something else should be cut? I'm dropping mine off at the mechanic next week and want the correct instructions! The PDF seems the same online....
Ah, so the two tabs (that currently are marked for removal) on the gravel guard are functional. But the two tabs on the bumper are not...because they connected to the part of the gravel guard that is gone. Do I have it right? Thanks!Yeah they havent updated the instructions. So two cuts need being made
#1 - Gravel guard - just cut out the main shape, DO NOT cut off any of the tabs from the gravel guard
#2 - Inside of bumper - there are two mount points which need to be cut off to free up the space for your hands. These can be cut off. They would normally be used to connect up to the clips that hold the gravel guard in - but as you cut out the shape in #1 those two clips are no longer required and the mount points get in the way of operation of the hitch
Also imo 1/2 an inch didnt cut it to get the block to fit. If you look at my pictures i went down to likely 1/4 inch just at that point to make it fit.
Correct. The tabs on the gravel guard imo are still needed as they give the gravel guard a fitting into the bumper. There is no reason to remove them imo esp as that area of the guard is weaker given you have cut half of it awayAh, so the two tabs (that currently are marked for removal) on the gravel guard are functional. Thanks so much! One final question....how possible is it to remove those bumper tabs after everything is re-assembled? Just trying to figure out how screwed I'd be if the mechanic didn't do that step (which I could imagine happening as it isn't written / pictured).Correct. Super easy - just take off the gravel guard (8 or so little clips, your need a car trim removal tool ideally) and then use a small saw to cut them off - its just plastic. Thanks so much!
