Wow you guys have been more than awesome. Thank you for all the comments. I am sold on the Torklift. It is nearly twice the cost including the installation, but I better bite the bullet for the peace of mind. Now I gotta find an installer. I live in BC but closer to the Montana border. I am just surprised I can’t find any hitch installer near Kalispell/Whitefish area. I suppose I can ask Uhaul or dealerships if they could install a hitch that I bring with me. Thanks again guys!!!
Any good garage with a decent mechanic could help you out. Don't worry about someone who has installed hitches before. A good mechanic is just that.

Hi

The Uhaul hitch is in my garage. I already installed 2 hitches in my previous cars without problems, but this one is complicated.

Just spotted this thread searching for help. Thank you for instructions, it is now more clear, but did I understand it correctly? Do I need to REMOVE AND NOT REINSTALL bumper bar under bumper fascia?! If yes, I really dont like that. I expected from Uhaul usage of OEM mounting points.

Yes, all other installs for Ioniq 5 have hitch mounting plates parallel to the car, and Uhaul one has plates parallel to the bumper. I think this will be return :(

Installed, looks good.It connected to solid beam, it will not bend. Big plastic bar removed from inside, I dont know what is the function of it, maybe make bumper more rigid?

Removal of fascia bumper rivets was the hardest part, but it is possible to remove bumper without breaking a single clip. Take your time. Push to the front and up, or bend a little and unclip with small driver.

PS: before you tighten bolts make sure it is centered, otherwise hitch will not align with bumper cut.

I believe that plastic beam just inboard of the bumper cover is the bumper. The plastic that covers it is purely cosmetic. I would not drive around without the bumper.

My stealth hitch hopefully gets delivered on Friday going to try the install myself with a buddy, it seems doable without the bumper removal. Delivery from the US cost way more than I wanted but at least im only paying taxes once vs ship to US border and have to pay US taxes plus import taxes …

I’ll be happier with the cost of the hitch if I can do it myself vs a $500 install - hence decided to go away from anything involving me needing to cut a visible hole in the bumper!

I look forward to the details for your install without the bumper removal. If doable, I’ll be following your lead

Could you clarify... If the OEM attach points were NOT used, how was the hitch attached? I am scheduled for a Uhaul install next week.

I'll give a strong recommendation for the Torklift hitch. I just did mine last night. The quality is fantastic (love that its stainless too). The downside is the install process - not for the faint of heart!. It also takes a while. Be prepared for 3-4 hours. Others have pointed a few things I'll reiterate that are important. The YouTube video is amazing and I could not have installed without it. BY FAR the hardest part is removing the bumper clips on each side. You need to be careful and have a lot of patience. The cutting sounds like the scariest part but its not with an oscillating cutting tool. If you do the masking tape trick in the video and take your time its really pretty easy and the result is great. Lastly, if a bike rack is your main purpose I really think this is the best option as the car already rides low. This keeps the rack up a bit more than hitches that drop below like the OEM one.
Has the rack played havoc with backup camera or backup warnings?

This is car with bumper and bumper bar removed (as seen on second picture)
As you can see there are 3 holes per side for bolts. The plate consists of 2 plates, first one is 0.5mm body panel in the front, and second, not visible solid 2-3 mm plate which is part of the structure bar. It will not bend.

Fitted the Stealth Hitch today - pictures below. My original plan to not remove the bumper (aka try the OEM procedure) did not pan out. I could get the two side pieces on to the frame but there was no way of getting the beam across or likely being able to actually tighten the bolts.

So in the end I reverted to the given instructions, removed the bumper, which though was a little scary was actually not that difficult to screw up - definitely need two people at points and needed a slow and steady mindset.

Super happy with how it turned out. The cut in the trim piece (not the bumper but the long splash guard thing) is invisible unless your under the car, I put black tape over the exposed edges after filing just to add a bit more protection from cuts and grazes in normal use.
