Forgot to mention that you will find the plastic edge hard to get clearance off the hatch steel panel.
Best way would be to remove the plastic panel but looked all too hard. I used a thin blade to get started followed by following 2 blades alone as I pushed in the masking tape....good luck😊
No worries, thanks for the follow up!!

My IONIQ 5 was completely silent inside when driving new. Now it has started making creaking/rattling noises like the trunk lid fittings have become loose. I mentioned this to my dealership when it went in for the 5K tire rotation and they asked if there was anything floating around loose under the trunk mat - there was not. They found nothing related to the trunk lid mechanics/fittings. The lid sits flush and looks normal- in fact well engineered and operates fine (Limited edition auto trunk features).
They asked that I bring it back in for a 2-3 hour inspection (for which I would pay) because the mechanic believed there were rocks lodged up in the wheel wells! I told them that if that was the case then the vehicle was delivered that way to me as it has never been off roaded.
Is anyone else experiencing this rear end noise?
Hi, i have the same problem, i inserted 2x 8mm spring washers per screw in the top 2 tailgate stoppers and for each screw in the bottom stoppers 1x 8mm flat washer. When i was done i only adjusted the 2 top tailgate stoppers by slightly screwing them tighter as in the pictures. Hope this will help as my noice has reduced almost to 100% when going over bumps...so hope this works.

Just to add... the hatch rattle has been driving me mad as well. 4 days ago, I greased the hard rubber blocks on the hatch and the car, with thick silicone grease.

The rattle has gone.

Previously I had wrapped the hatch catch with tape, screwed the stop things in and out - nothing had worked.

I'll second the washer fix for the hatch rattle. I found a guy on YouTube who had a Genesis GV60 with the same rattle problem. The service center put washers on the top mount and the mechanic said this is a design flaw with Hyundais, Genesis, and Kias that use this design.

I tried a few different combinations of washers to get the right thickness I ended up using Everbilt 3/8" 'Bonded Sealing Washers' from Home Depot, not because I needed sealing washers but they were a little thicker than my latest not-quite-thick-enough fix. The rattle is finally gone!

UPDATE: I noticed that the creaking came back slightly and check the parts. The bottom 'receiver' has deformed somewhat, so I'm assuming this won't be a long-term fix. I'll try the tape or Teflon spray fix on the latch.

Update for all- The "out of stock" part finally came in to fix the trunk rattle... but it took 2 more weeks before my dealership could get me a loaner. Huh? My Ioniq 5 Ltd AWD is exactly 1 year old and I reported this issue the week after I got the car.
Any way- there is evidently a TSB out there now that addresses the fix which was performed on my car this week. I saw no descriptions of any unusual parts that had not been in the forum before- washers etc.

I just picked it up today and praise God the rattle is gone... at least for now. I'll report back if it returns.

What you will find is the tailgate shut stops are loose on the tailgate. You need to remove the felt washers from under them and replace with a good fitting rubber O ring. Then adjust the stops to full length.

My car hatch rattled from day one. Those rubber bumpers at the corner of the hatch are threaded. Why use spacers? I backed them out a half turn and presto! no rattle. Took less than a minute. But that was only a few days ago. Perhaps the rattle will return?
Did I miss something said earlier? Are people just running out of adjustment travel? I guess that would explain the spacers.

My Ioniq 5 hatch rattled too after just a few thousand miles.
My solution;
Slacken all four rubber side stops and fully screw in the adjustable stops.
Close the hatch and open it again.
tighten the rubber stops without moving them.
Now take a strip of paper and hold it on the bumper recess where the adjustable stops sit.
Screw the adjustable stops out one turn at a time. When the paper just slightly grips the bumper leave them at that. This does take some patience and risks draining the 12v. But it worked for me. I repeated the process at 10000 miles.

I had a rattling noise from the back of the car from new. I took it to my local Hyundai garage and was told is a known problem (Hyundai describes it as a creaking noise), they installed a Hyundai fix kit in the boot hatch and the noise stopped.

My hatch rattled from the second day I owned the car, or maybe that was just the first time I noticed. More than one way to skin a cat, I reckon, though my noise was more rattle than creak. Rather than deal with the dealer. I first screwed out the rubber bumpers at the bottom corners of the hatch a little. That worked for few days before the rattle returned. I then took them back out and put a couple rounds of electrical tape on the bumper threads, thick enough that they fit so tight they could barely be screwed back in. 5wks and a thousand miles later , so far so good.

Oh that's a decent fix. I'll try that for now.
