Feedback after getting my Coolant swapped out, at same time as a Battery Swap under the Recall.

The new fluid (BSC-2) is Blue. So anyone in here who got pink stuff in their 38, has presumably got the wrong stuff.
I quizzed the mechanic I spoke to, but he wasn't clued up on what the pink stuff's for, or whether the Ioniq 5 uses it.
Mine was done yesterday & today by Richmond Hyundai in Portamouth, and was also the 2nd Ioniq battery swap they've done.
On Monday they also did an Ioniq 38, the first of this model they'd battery-swapped, and they had a techhie freom H to come & supervise the process. That car also got the full flush + coolant swap treatment.

They had mine from 8am yesterday to 11 am today, then they put it on charge & I picked it up around 3 p.m. with just over 50% SOC in it. As far as I can tell they know what they're doing, and have done an ok job. Time will tell! :)
My coolant is blue and seemed to be below the min line, could have been due to -7C cold weather spell anyway they topped it up and a month later I started getting coolant warning

I have an appointment on March 17 for a coolant change under warranty and without paying anything according to the dealership (Yippee) The Big 4-year overhaul seems to have been avoided (my ioniq 38.3 is 2 and a half years old) The workshop recently received an air pressurizer specially developed for the operation. Changed with new fluid. Recall campaign to remove debris in the circuit (I did not see any in the expansion tank).
I've never had the coolant warning in my ioniq 38.3.

Just a note from the German Kona EV forum, campaign 10DC41 seems to be connected to this issue but I can't find a PDF anywhere yet.
I just checked my VIN on the German Hyundai website:

Recalls and Service Actions | Hyundai Germany

The result:

Flush cooling system and replace coolant, KONA (OS EV) & IONIQ (AE EV)

Valid until: 13.06.2025

Campaign code: 20D140

My 2020 IONIQ has had a world of hurt with the Coolant issue, I have had it in for service 5 times

1) Replaced one coolant pump
2) Replaced the other coolant pump
3) Multiple flushes
4) Multiple flushes
5) On directions from Hyundai, flush with the pumps running forwards & backwards at specific speeds

I heard about the non-essential repair through my brother-in-law who has the same model but a few months older than mine.

I'm going to contact the dealer to get them to explain the repair and book my car in.

So far, aside from the first two visits, nothing has been done other than flushing debris out of the coolant system.

Just had the most frustrating call with Hyundai customer services. They are insisting to maintain the cars warranty the battery coolant must be replaced again at Y4 even though it’s just been done 2 weeks after the Y3 service. What’s more I am told I can’t book a Y4 service without the coolant as the schedule says it has to be done which effectively leaves me replacing the coolant again after less than a year or not servicing the car at a Hyundai dealer and using a HEVRA garage Asking them not to do the coolant and write off the remaining 4 years battery warranty And 1 year car warranty.

A crazy waste of resources and money because ‘Computer says no’.

3 major faults now on this car since I got it 18 months ago, just loosing faith in Hyundai as a manufacturer.
Is there no common sense left in the world?

See my call info above about that 4 year service, Hyundai clearly are not prepared to vary the service from that expensive coolant replacement.

So is this a recall where all Ioniq owners will be contacted whether they have encountered the on screen error or not?
They are describing it as a service warranty issue, I think it’s only if the error occurs that it is officially done but some on here seem to be getting the procedure regardless of warning messages.

Just to wrap this up for me.

Despite 3 days of emails/calls with Hyundai 'Customer Services' they have stood fast by the Y4 service is needed in FULL inc Coolant replacement regardless of if the service warranty coolant flush / replacement issue was done the week or year before.

This seems to be a crazy waste of coolant when you scale it up to how many Ioniq/Kona's are likely to impacted.

In conclusion anyone thinking they have dodged that Y4 expensive service because this service warranty has been done don't bank on it, your going to still have a big bill for that Y4/40,000 mile service even if the flush process happened the week before it. If you don't they will not honour the car or battery warranty for any components that could be impacted by the coolant.

Environmentally irresponsible imho but big corporates are never very flexible.

Well, it says they've done the 20d140 campaign to Discharge the Debris, so I'd say yes, yo now have the new BSC-2 stuff.

Ferntree Gully though? My elder bro used to have general practice surgery there! Should have taken it to him for a diagnosis ages ago! :ROFLMAO:

Aaaaand the warning message came back on last night. So looks like it's going to be intermittent. Haven't cancelled my service at the end of the month though, so might just leave it booked and if it's still on then I'll take it in.

Thar she blows!! Came up half way through a drive this morning.

Coolant level fine. Slight angle where we always park at home. Sigh.

@kousuke Your coolant looks more blue than ours. Might be a trick of the light though but ours has always been this way

* Edit. Our car has the same coolant notice on that German site above as well

I take it you haven't had the 20D140 Campaign flush/clean/refill done yet?
Did you ever get your Turtle-mode problem sorted?
Did you get a new battery fitted, maybe under the Recall for free?
IMWTK!

@HandyAndy No only popped up this weekend. Bank holiday here so I'll chase it tomorrow. Came on again today but not on every car start.
Not me that had turtle mode issue, I'm the one that has had multiple motor whirring issues/replacements
Our car wasn't part of battery recall so on original.

Just had mine done, through chance it co-I coded with the 40000 mile service so asked for a discount on that as warranty was paying for a large chunk of the work. I don’t think any discount would have been applied without asking though.

The dealer also advised that this is now a recall but I take that with a pinch of salt.

@Mjl - could you please tell me (approx) how much the service was with the discount? According to the Maintenance schedule without the coolant change the remainder of the service is IDENTICAL to the 20,000 service with one additional "inspection" - Reduction Gear Fluid. However, my dealer says he is discounting the coolant change (done 2 weeks ago) but still wants >£150 more than I paid for the 20K service!
