Coolant Warning

gosh... i was about to buy a used 2020 38kw ioniq.

How many owners are impacted by this issue?

I suspect there is a fitting issue somewhere along the coolant line like a loose host clamp that could be allowing air to leak into the coolant line.

Compounding the issue - Hyundai engineering team may not have incorporated an air release valve in the design?

As the air leak accumulate the coolant pump is force to work harder - hence higher RPM until it triggers PID fault.

My 2020 ioniq 38 (production date 23-08-2019) has started displaying the dreaded "refill coolant" warning after a fast charging session yesterday at 45k ODO.

it is quite persistent - reappearing after both AC and DC charging session - I am bit at loss on what to do with the vehicle now.

Does the vehicle need to go through several coolant flush before Hyundai will buyback the vehicle? I really love my ioniq heaps - really sadden about all these issues with the vehicle - battery recall and now coolant crystallisation.

I am based in Victoria, Ringwood - the two nearest Hyundai Dealers are at Doncaster and Ferntree Gully.

Any thoughts most appreciated

Hi. Chiming in from Denmark with an Ioniq 2020 that has the refill coolant error. Visited the dealer today that said they are going to receive a machine from Hyundai next week and that Hyundai is running a "service campaign" for this issue. Don't know if that is just lingo to keep me "Happy' and patiently waiting..?
Would you mind sharing the service campaign notice no and details when you get hold of them please?

Thanks

Hi Kousuke. I wrote to my dealer right after your question if they could provide me some information or link to a website with more about the service campaign. They called me afterwards and told, again, that there is a service campaign on the issue but it "so new" that there is no public info on it (their words). He assured me that the work done would be free of charge (maybe thinking that was why I was worrying).

I then asked for him to write what he is saying to me on the phone to have some sort of history/proof of the issue. Here is the translated email from the dealer:

"As I said, Hyundai is running a service campaign on ''refill coolant''. This campaign means that the coolant on the car must be replaced with a new variant. This is done using special tools that can correct the problem. We have not received the special tool yet and therefore cannot carry out the repair at this time. Once we receive the special tool you will be contacted so we can make arrangements."
Many thanks for the update - very keen to get the service campaign no. or any available details.

Please keep us posted when your vehicle has completed the service campaign.

Hi Guys,

A member of Australian FB ioniq group reported they had coolant changed to "BSC-2" twice under the same service campaign code TSB 20D140.

Low coolant warning returned after 6000km and again 3000km later.

Thoughts anyone?
