Hopefully a word of reassurance for all of you out there in the "not audiophile, but don't like crappy sound" category, like me... I received my Ioniq 5 AWD73 4 days ago. To sum my initial sentiment, I love the car! Regarding the Bose audio, I'm enjoying it very much. From the front seats, it's the most pleasant sound I have had had in a car (first one with a subwoofer), though definitely less crisp than my (few thousand $) JBL home theater system in the house. I cranked up the treble to +7/10 and the base to +2/10. From the back seats, it's not so nice. The front tweeters are too far away and the rear speakers don't seem to be doing much. But overall, I'd say, unless you are very particular about your audio, it will be just fine.
Thanks for feedback on rear seat sound. I will probably never sit in the back, so good to know. And I agree it’s not crappy in front, especially while driving.

My Mazda MX5 convertible has a Bose sound system in it and in that application, it was the worse sounding system that I have owned up till that time. I pre-ordered the Ioniq 5 Limited and it comes with an 8 speaker Bose sound system. Many auto journalist had already stated that the 14 speakers Meridian sound system in the new Kia EV6 is much better than the Ioniq 5's Bose. Oh well...
fellow mx5 (nd) owner with limited on order! First thing I did with the ND was swap the speakers out for some decent aftermarket options… I may do the same here

I have the Bose system and yes I know its an OEM solution not a real 'Bose'product and its a real dissapointment audio quality wise. Limited dynamics, transparency is OK ( ish ) but the biggest dissapontment is the so called 'subwoofer' that you sacrifice 4" of boot height for ! Its pathetic . Sadly the audio system is the most underwhelming part of the car...

Hi all, not an audio expert here but definitely a long time enthusiast. Regarding the low rear channel level, I seem to recall lots of discussion over the years about proper sound staging and "rear fill." I believe the idea is to keep the rear channels at a level where they are just audible, and not reducing the front speaker's ability to "image" the instruments on a virtual stage. Somewhat counter-intuitively, this apparently results in a better experience for both front and rear passengers in general.

Apologies if I missed it somewhere, but is the system unable to even provide this level of output to the rear channels?

Great discussion here - I have the ioniq 5 bose system and am looking at replacing the front door speakers - has anyone in this thread actually done that on the bose system? If so, what speakers did you replace with and does the tweeter/front speaker have a crossover already on the bose system?
