Björn Nyland is 1,73 m tall if I'm not mistaken. So that gives you an idea about the available space in the car.
(You would probably go to sleep without the shoes and not stretch to the full lenght. So I assume up to 1,8 m should be easily possible.)

Thanks!

I am afraid Bjorn Nyland does not represent our lengths well...

I measured it; the available width in your sketch is about 15 cm too optimistic. The 118 cm should be 100-102 cm, and the 130 cm should be 116 cm. The length seems OK, but can be more depending on how you position the front seats.
Thank you so much again, Jan! I've got two of these matrasses at home, I think I'm going to open them up and cut them to fit the car perfectly. They were 25 euro each and I'll get some new ones for @home. That should do the trick I think. They're 195 - 65 now. Lengthwise, I checked, really is 1.90 with the chairs moved as far to the front as possible. And then I'm going to find some plastic containers to put clothes and food in, to support the head part :). Björn Nyland, my husband and I are about the same length, luckily! (1.73) :D

Maybe you can just press each of the mattresses a bit so that each becomes 7 cm less wide? Then you also will not fall in that nasty cold gap in between ...

May be worth the try, at least the head part, but they're pretty sturdy... I will certainly have to cut it up for the trunk area. Will keep you all posted, still a few more months to go! :)

Here I am. :D
(And no idea what and where the user map is. This forum is confusing me slightly.)
Here it is, @Umrath: http://www.ioniqforum.com/forum/7-hyundai-ioniq-general-discussion/5689-member-map.html Because this is a "worldwide forum", it now looks like there are just a few German Ioniq-drivers: Even our dealer said "Germans aren't interested in the Ioniq" ;-) That's probably because you have your own German forum in your own language (I posted something there to ask if you would like to come here and join this member map). Two of you did, already! (you can leave your details there... which car, where you live), and it will be removed once you've been added to the map. (Or tell them in private). We as users get viewer access, not writing access.

I still have to wait five more months for our car to arrive... so I can cut up our matresses and see if I can make them fit. Your airbed was 1.90, do you think 1.95 would also fit? Thanks btw for all your testing video's, they're very informative, arghh!
;)

I measured 1,94 m when I checked. I'm fairly sure that 1,95 m should fit. Airbeds are quite a bit flexible after all. ;)

It's a lot of fun to make those movies. I will add more. Maybe I should start to provide subtitles. :p

That's not such a bad idea, actually :) We as Dutch ppl often understand German (especially the ones living near the border), but with English subs you can reach out to the world! :)

So, back at this old topic of mine, I'm attaching a few pictures to let you know you can, in fact, comfortably sleep in your Ioniq if you want to :) You push your front seats all the way forward, and this 2 meter long foldable matrass fits in nicely, there's even a few centimeters left. We just have to cut them both up a bit to make them fit. AND you have to put something underneath your head, some boxes or cases in which you can also store things. But that's it.

Getting in and out through the passenger's doors is doable, even for ppl our age ;-) (50-ish). My husband obviously has room to spare, lengthwise :) One downer though. We ordered the "habitent" which is made in the US, but it doesn't fit the Ioniq. The part that's supposed to fit snugly over the backdoor window, is a bit too small, the Ioniq's backdoor is slightly broader than the Prius'. Also, there's nothing to hook it on to, on the bottom. But maybe we can find a way to make it work still. It's a wonderful little thing and Ioniqs should certainly have those as well! See this video for instructions:

Happy camping everybody! :)

I am not counting...

9 days, 18 hours, 36 minutes and 55 seconds to go.
Or 844 615 seconds.
Or 14 076 minutes.
Or 234 hours.
I know the feeling. I was driving my wife mad. At least I can get back to normal life again, now it is in my driveway :)

And so, instead of the habitent, which I'll probably have to sell to a prius owner now, I ordered myself these to allow fresh air inside, while sleeping. https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/2-St...ng-Shield-Moustiquaire-Klamboe/32837519126.html?spm=a2g0z.search0104.0.0.jWQVdy
Quoting myself because the above is an essential thing to have when sleeping in your Ioniq!

So we finally made the foam mattresses fit today (These happened to have a zipper, so we could take the foam out, cut it with a bread knife, and put them back in). Easy! These are 200-65-9 cm mattresses, which were cut out a bit like in the picture. The head- and shoulders-part still is 65 cm wide per person. And I must say, it's very comfortable! We made a wooden cover for two crates that are slightly tilted forward to match the "upward slope" from the backseat when it's folded down, and we found a few plastic boxes to fill up the rest. (for Dutch ppl: Xenos)

Roadtrip to France and Switzerland ahead! Who needs a caravan or tent when you've got an Ioniq to sleep this comfortably in? ;)

Very clever and very cool do-it-yourself stuff. Instead of the crates underneath, may be you can find some inflatable things that fit, less bulky when not in use.
The crates are foldable and the plastic boxes (two per crate) are stackable, so there's no need for something inflatable :) Also: What if the inflatables had a leak in the middle of the night? We had that once, sleeping in our tent (And only a small car where sleeping was not possible). We decided to pack it all in and leave that same night. That's why we have the foam mattresses now :)

The only thing I'll be missing now is a "starry sky" with the windows open and close to nature. Maybe I can find me some glow-in-the-dark stars ;-)

I find air mattresses uncomfortable in any weather. When it is cold, I freeze and the only way around that is to put a foam mattress on top of the air mattress. In hot weather, I sweat lying on plastic. I typically fold my foam mattress in half on travel days to take up less room in the car, but rolling it up and tying it is also an option which is what I do when not traveling.

I also use plastic crates crossing the country with full housewares and bicycles for a job. I take a toolbox that is exactly the height of the rear seat well to support the crates (and carry tools).

Hi @iet, I emailed Habitent yesterday after participating in the following recent thread on Ioniq camping....

However, before I was informed of this older thread of yours....

I received a reply back from Habitents already as follows....

"Hi, the Ioniq has a similar swept back profile to the 2016-present standard Prius. I think that model should adapt well to your Ioniq. Best, Cory at Habitents.com"

Was this the Prius model Habitent that you tried @iet, or was it for an earlier Prius model?
How much modifying was needed?
Could a bit of creative/crafty stitching and perhaps some self-adhesive velcro &/or bungee cords w/hooks make it work?
Possibly request some additional material for widening/lengthening when ordering?

I'd be willing to try if I thought there was a chance it would turn out to be practical, but without looking like a rough modification.

Seasons greetings and thanks in advance for your further input.

FYI and further to my previous post above, here is a selection of the different Habitents currently available. Apparently there is a significant difference between the earlier and more recent Prius models available.....

I do think that is the model I ordered, there was just one model available at the time. I really don't think I could have made it fit, I'm sad to say. Especially because it's supposed to hook on to something underneath, which is not possible because of the Ioniq's closed construction. But it's also too narrow. We ordered this napier tailgate tent instead: https://www.rei.com/media/product/851616
