i think that is because that dealer is not using the machine that hyundai has for this it is a lot like coolant on a gas car. for some cars, it is a real challenge to get all the air out. cars with v engines have problems. i have a kit, uview airlift that made the job foolproof. just like the hyundai machine, it would suck out all the old coolant. this would put the system in a vacuum. then, fresh coolant would be sucked in to fill, and there were no air pockets. no need to warm up, cool down, refill. when this came out, it was a game changer.
That's probably the case. The cynic in me wonders if they just got the machine and want to pay for it with the first use. LOL!

I'm familiar with burping the cooling systems on cars. Gen 3 Prius was a royal pain.

I got my coolant change done at 40K to the tune of $1,000. Brought it back the next day due to the "Refill Coolant" warning on my screen. Reservoir was empty. Got that straightened out and now 3 weeks later, have the same message popping up. Reservoir is now about 1/4 full. I don't know why this is happening but I suspect the dealership doesn't know what it's doing with this job. Very discouraging.
Wow. Looks like instead of doing proper 3h maintenance procedures with pump switch/vacuum, etc they just flush and replaced fluid, 40$ simple procedure you can do yourself. But for 600$.

I don't know if that's the reason or not. I've seen prices all over the place from $300 to $1,000. Unfortunately, I ended up on the higher end of the spectrum.
all shops, including dealers, work off a flat rate that is supplied by the manufacturer. it details out how many flat rate units should be charged on jobs. however, some shops/dealers have never done the job, they just look it up, and quote accordingly. some have done the job before, and have learned to add on to make a profit. i remember when the bmw x5 came out, it still had a fuel filter that had to be serviced. there was his huge spash shield under the car that was almost as big as the car, and it had to be removed to access the fliter. BUT, in order to remove it, the driveshaft had to be removed. then, this sucker had a million dzus fittings to take off. so, when one of them came in for service, all the techs would run and hide. later on, there was a shortcut, where one corner of the shield could be loosened and pried down, but even then, access to the filter was mostly by feel. then, when the fuel hose was disconnected, fuel would run down and cover up the tech who would be reaching in. but because of the flat rate units, the shortcut still was charged out as if everything was done, and the shop and tech made big bucks. i remember when i was selling parts, a shop would call up for an x5 fuel filter, and i would ask if they had ever done this job before. if they said no, i would ask them to call me back after they had done it. boy, talk about some REALLY salty techs. they would invent new cuss words

Following up on my earlier post, I completed the "inverter coolant" replacement as it's described on the invoice. $248 from Roseville Hyundai, and they gave me a 10% discount because their bleeding machine had a problem so it wasn't done after 3 hours. And apparently my 12V battery died during the process, so they replaced it at no cost. Hopefully I'm good for another 3+ years.

I just got home from Jim Pattison Hyundai in Surrey BC Canada after getting my 2024 IO5 charging port door replaced under warranty. While there, I inquired about the LC coolant change due on my car in a couple of years. I was shocked when they said it didn't need to be changed until 60 Mo. or 60K NOT the 36 Mo. originally listed and ....... the price listed was $387 Cdn ($276 US) plus tax. WHAT A RELIEF! I talked with one of the service guys and he said they were familiar with the procedure as they had done it a fair number of times mostly due to cars needing the ICCU replaced (which also required the LC coolant change). I suspect the interval change is likely due to them not knowing exactly how quickly the new coolant would deteriorate. This is Gen. 2 as the first LC coolant broke down quite quickly due to crystallization formation or something like that. Any way......What a relief. My AWD IO5 has been such an enjoyable car to own and drive. My previous car was a little Accent HB so, a HUGE change in size, noise, power, and comfort.

I go to this dealer, note some of the service advisor have no clue regarding I5.
The ICCU has nothing to do with the blue LCC coolant used to cool the HV battery. The pink coolant is the one that goes through the ICCU.

If somebody replaced LC coolant in South Florida, could you please recommend a dealer that knows how to do it. How much did it cost?
I tried to schedule several appointments with Lehman Hyundai. Nobody knew what I was asking about, promised to call back and certainly never did.
Thank you.
Not quite South Florida, but Hyundai of New Port Richey (just north of St. Pete) seems extremely competent. They have three EV techs last time I asked and have always gotten me in and out promptly. I haven't yet needed the LC coolant replaced, but that's where I'll go.

Coincidently, tonight I will drive to Ft. Myers. Too late for tomorrow's appointment though. Thank you for the tip.

I hope you find a good shop, wherever it is.

2025 AWD SEL has coolant replacement (no modifier) at 120,000 miles and again at 144,000 miles, after which apparently no maintenance of anything is required. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Of course, I told them I drive 6,000 miles a year, so they don't think in 2042 I am going to give a :poop:.

2025 models doesn't have the LC coolant. I am assuming you are referring the regular pink coolant.

Yes, they don't reference what type or color of coolant they are referring to, so they must mean the "regular pink" coolant.
Actually, they must mean the pink coolant since it's the only kind the 2025 model has.

But waiting till 2044 to replace the pink wouldn't be good either. The pink coolant gets replaced every 120,000 miles OR every 10 years, whichever comes first.

My IONIQ 5 RWD drive is up for due for LC blue coolant change. Is listed price of $387 CAD plus taxes/fees at the 60,000km here in BC Canada. I asked the service advisor if the front bumper cover needs to be removed to access drain and he said it does not. Wonder how they access the drain? Is it possible?
I'm in metro Vancouver too. Where did you get your done for $387?

Thanks
