Hi, is there any update on this? I have bee trying to find the proper rack&number, but was not really successful. Would somebody be able to give the Menabo numbers or an Ebay link for the correct rack/foot. And, Norwegian, still happy with the rack?

Not sure if bumps are allowed, but having followed the thread on tow hitch bicycle racks etc I would be more interested in roof bars and bike carriers so thought I'd get this thread back up to the top.

Anyone know if anything's available (and allowed by Hyundai) yet?

As you see on my picture the roof box isn't horizontal but somewhat up in front. It all works fine, but it could have fitted nicer with a non-universal one from Hyundai. Hope this will come some day. Until then we can carry our stuff. Anyone else experiencing this with the menabo bars?

In a local forum someone suggested to use Thule's new Hyundai Elantra roofbars - they fit perfectly.
I called the nearest Thule agent, and he strongly advised me to not to use it. He said it is against Thule's policy to use a non specific roofbar. He saadded that the inner structure of the roof may be different inside, even if the outside is the same. In case the roof is not strong enough at the point where the roofbar is attached, it may result in serious damages, and/or accident.
This is not very encouraging. :-(
So I am puzzled if to risk using one...

This issue has bugged me for a while so after talking to a fellow Ioniq owner at work today he contacted his dealer who advised him to use generic roof bars, I was a little skeptical and asked my dealer if it would void anything in warranty etc if I used generic for the purpose of carrying bikes. He confirmed that there were no official ones and I should use generic ones and it wouldn't affect warranty etc. Half of me now wants to get Elantra / Menabo ones but the other half of me is still worried! Thoughts kind people?

I'm not sure. I ordered it at a webshop in Holland. I'll attach pictures of the components here. Maybe you'll find the info here.
Hoi ev-architect,

I bought the same roof rack. However, there are no dimensions for the ioniq in the manual. How did you solve that?

Ioniq Roof Rack

Hi.

The A Pillar and B Pillar and C Pillar is re-enforced If the vehicle was to turn over this would ensure the occupants would be protected. However. The area in the centre of the roof is very flexible.(It's Weight Saving hence no Pan Roof as with other models due to Weight. Basically as an owner you could place a roof rack on this area. However. It is very likely that the weight would imprint on the roof and leave damage.
It would effect the aero dynamics and increase wind noise dramatically. But the main reason is it will damage the centre of your roof!.

so what you are saying is roof bars that has fittings similar to the image attached "should" be ok as they are putting the weight on the stronger structural parts of the car, but anything that is on the centre section of the roof (between the two black rubber strips) risks damage to the roof?

but as ever due to no official roof rack all at owners risk

I have purchased a rack, same as a few others on here, from https://www.rameder.eu/ :-

Item No: ZB7389 x 1 - Locking set
Item No: 118791 x 1 - Roof rack, comes with feet, bars etc

Above came to 94,45 Euro plus shipping of 20,23 Euro.

I paid with Paypal and that came to ÂŁ107.12 in total.

All arrived to me at work within 3-4 days.

I guesstimated the position for the feet and successfully used it on the weekend to collect my Canoe.
I would definitely recommend it to any Ioniq owners.

Obviously its at your own risk, but I was more than happy with the strong, tight fit on mine.
This model fits a range of cars, form different manufacturers.

I wonder if Thule do any universal racks...

hi
would you be able to post a picture of your guesstimation so i would not have to re-invent the wheel?;) thanx...

Hope this helps?

Obviously I have just guessed a position.
You have to make your own decision and risk assessment :)

I only fitted the rack quickly, didn't even fit the end caps etc.
I will do this before I use it next.
sure it does help, thanx a lot.. now i know where to start when putting the rack on the car. i am just missing one small piece of the puzzle - my car:eek: should be getting it on Dec.14th...
