Very happy for you that you can get your car back and fully functional.

Also very important to note that it wasn't a big hardware issue (actual electric motor or batteries or similar "big" issue), but a stupid ECU problem. Obviously not stupid to you, sorry that caused you so much trouble, but certainly with more knowledge from the dealer, it could have been easily sorted in no time at all.

Well, we all have to shrug our shoulders at the simple fact that cars today are controlled by computers.

If the ECU goes wrong, it's not a roadside bodge to repair, anymore than it's a five minute fix to deduce by the dealer.

It would certainly be nice if cars had more BITE (Built-In Test Equipment) as it does seem the level of sophistication in the onboard telematics is about ten years behind the electronics on the vehicle.

Agreed. When such a simple device as the 12V battery gets low it should be normal to get a simple direction to recharge it instead of all (sub) systems going bananas while in fact there is nothing wrong with them.
In sofware engineering it is called fault tolerance procedure call.
Nice to develop a car which such a diversity of advanced interdependent electronics but it scares the living daylights out of novice users (like it did to me) who dont have a clue WTF is going on.

I still can't imagine the fact that the crazy ECU can turn the car into using the brakes, but hey that's me. I can imagine these kind of problems will happen a lot more when we all drive electric cars. The dealer here doesn't look very professional to me, so I am still amazed by the fact they could fix this problem in 8 days. Hope it won't happen again!

well its the first ECU issue I have seen so not common, so you should be good now

Just got my Ioniq back from the dealership after nearly a month... Total failure of the Hybrid system a few miles from home (after less than 6k miles total); diagnosed as a TCM issue, which was then replaced.

It's now having stutter shifting / high rev problems, EV fails to kick in, etc. Sigh.

I love Hyundai, but ****.

My VIN (for the sake of this thread) is: 0265**

What is TCM?. Do you mean perhaps BCM ( Battery Control Module)?

Happened to me at < 1500 miles. My VIN: 0320**. My favorite part is that bluelink diagnostics report gives everything a nice thumbs up. That's not a free trial that I'll continue...
