Chargepoint L2 intermittent charging

I've read about the heating problem with higher current L2 charging where the car will stop the charge cycle before the job is complete. I'm not sure this is the same problem. Up until recently, the car will take the full current in a continuous swallow until the car is charged. Now, the car charges and then stops for a while. Some time later the charging will start up again. Last night it went through several cycles before hitting the 80% set point. See photo.

Is the car starting and stopping the charging?
Is the Chargepoint charger starting and stopping the charging?
Is this the same problem that others have been seeing with the over heating issue at the car charge port?

I am running the Chargpoint charger at 48A. It was reletively cool last night in the garage at 55 degrees F. At least, when I got up this morning, the car was charged to 80%.

If this ends up being the over heat issue, then a solution would be to lower the charge current. It looks to me that the only way to limit the charge current on my Chargepoint is to re-register it which I am reluctant to do since it is tied in with my power company account and I'm not sure what is needed to re-establish that if I re-register. Is there a way to limit the incoming current on the car side of cable?
Thanks.

I had the exact same problem - yes the charging is stopping and re-starting due to overheating - because of the restrictive way Chargepoint controls the ability to change the current level in their charger, you have to call their support phone number and have them lower the current from 48A to 40A or 32A if you want to - or, if you installed it yourself, the installer app is supposed to allow you to change it - the other alternative is to set your charging rate in the car to either "reduced" or "minimum" - in my experience, the car will only charge at 32A at the maximum rate without overheating

I was the installer of the Chargepoint (initially running at 48A) and could not get the installer app to recognize the Q code for my unit, also my unit wouldn't connect to the Chargepoint servers because they were either down for long periods of time or the WiFi was out and therefore I was not able to lower the current - because of this, I got Chargepoint to return the unit and re-imburse me and I installed an Emporia charger - it is 1/2 the price and allows the user to set the charging current in amps

Yeah, you have the same problem as all of us. Best option would be to get the TSB applied to your car. It's just a band-aid but works by automatically switching to Min (60%) on your car (but AC charge setting screen will still show Max) and continue to charge to your set limit instrad of stopping and restarting when the port has cooled down.
This issue happens with all kinds of L2 chargers, not just ChargePoint, since it is a car issue. Leave your charger alone and just limit the input on your cars side. If you are not in a hurry and charge over night it will work just fine.
