Haven’t used the Hyundai app since I setup Andy’s. He’s done an amazing job. It’s funny to think one guy can outperform an entire corporation when it comes to car apps.
To be fair, Andy's work, as commendable as it is, is supported by a community of developers. The underlying scripts are an open source derived work, and the script and automation applications are Apple products.

Not to negate what Andy has done, it is an amazingly useful app. But it is far more than a one David vs Goliath effort. His greatest contribution seems to be to simplify the user interface to the extent possible, but it does still leave enough difficulty that many non-techies would find overwhelming. I would venture to guess, 90% of iPhone owners have no idea they have scripting and automation capabilities on their phone. So to Andy's credit, his instructions are quite clear, I am certain most non-techies could follow along.

Appreciate the clarification.

This is an awesome app! One request - is it possible to add a preference to disable the prompt before locking and unlocking? I want to setup an automation so that the "lock doors" option will run 20 seconds after car play disconnects. To workaround the fact that Hyundai in their infinite wisdom does not offer a lock doors upon walk away option. It all works, but I have to allow the lock command to be sent, which defeats the purpose of the automation.

PS: Found the "auto lock car" shortcut on the automations page, going to give that one a shot!

Once you install the shortcuts it’s pretty easy to uust edit them and remove the prompt part if that’s what you want. The auto lock one doesn’t have one but will send a notification, if you don’t want that you can just remove it and it works silently

Right, in the Shortcuts app, this is the default for Auto Lock (I changed the Wait parameter):

So just remove the notification step from the automation.

For the manual Lock and Unlock, it is a little more involved, but similar method.

Posted this on reddit initially but figured i would post here.

I had some spare time and was so annoyed with the poor Canadian Buelink app I built a replacement app that i can use for 99% of what i need it to do. Its not an app in the App Store - it uses Scriptable to run, details here:

Its an alternative app that supports things that I wanted that the official app doesn't, such as:

  • Auto-Updating Homescreen and Lockscreen Widgets
  • Fresh and more responsive app UI
  • Single click options for common commands (lock, warm, charge etc) in both app and in IOS Control Center
  • Siri voice support “Hey Siri, Warm the car”
  • Automations via IOS Shortcuts like walk-away lock
  • Unlimited Custom Climate configurations

I now support Canada, US and Europe. Check bluelink.andyfase.com for region compatibility and feature set.

Share with your e-GMP friends, supports Hyundai and Kia, so EV6, EV9, Ioniq 6, Kona etc
I installed but after I save it said login Failed please re-check your credentials. Is there a certain criteria to the password and or pin number?

Believe it has to be the exact same user ID and password that you use for Hyundai's app.

I'm new to the app and my hi5. When and update is made by Andy, do we get a push notification ( I have Enable prompting checked)? Is it a manual update process where I will go download the new .js file or is there some automated update process?

Question about the setting Widget remote refresh. if this is uncheck (which it is now), does the widget never refresh until the time is pressed or will it refresh at some point? Even though it was unchecked the widget info seemed to change on it's own.

When you use the app if there is a "major" update available you will get prompted, for minor releases you don't. Either way you update in the app itself in the "About" screen (click on the "i" icon). That screen shows you what version your on and the latest available and allows you to upgrade with a single click - there is no need to download the JS file manually after first install (you can test this now as i just published a minor release)

With Widget remote refresh not enabled, the widget will never send a "remote status" command to the car, what this means is your hardly ever see a update off the data unless you go into the app itself and click on the time/date row to force an update. Supposedly bluelink is meant to update from the car on a regular interval, but frankly I've seen it be days with stale data unless I send a remote update command myself.

Its mostly disabled by default as I want users to be aware of the impact on 12v battery of doing to many remote refresh commands, the default settings with it turned on will send a remote status command once every 4 hours during the day and every 6 at night, likely that means ~6 updates every 24 hours which is very conservative and should be no issue re the 12v battery

Got this running a few days ago on my 25 ioniq 5. Very neat!! I am having a weird issue with the auto lock function though. When I get into the car and it connects to carplay, the automation pops up on my phone saying carplay was disconnected, locking doors. Despite it just connecting. Though it does work as expected when i get out and it actually disconnects. I am using bluetooth to trigger it rather than carplay for the trigger. I have it set to "is Disconnected". "Is connected" is not selected. I have checked it like 4 times. Any ideas?

Are you not connecting the phone by cable? Have you setup CarPlay?

I don't think you actually need to use CarPlay, as long as it is setup and connecting, when you power down the car and remove the phone from the car, it will run the automation. You might be getting intermittent disconnects causing it to think it is no longer connected. Maybe radio interference? Bluetooth uses 2.4gHz, just like WiFi, and a whole bunch of other short range radio tech.

Def not getting drop outs. It happens exactly when i get in the car. However, now that you said that I am realizing what is happening.

Get in car, Bluetooth connects, car switches to carplay, bluetooth disconnects because carplay uses wifi, sends command. Sooooo that is annoying. I was using bluetooth because when my wife gets in the car with me, she switches it to her carplay. Which would then disconnect mine and lock the car, and then the car would fail to lock because its not my phone disconnecting from carplay. So bluetooth is preferable as that stays connected when my wife switches to her carplay.

Is there any workaround you can think of? Maybe a delay or something?

Maybe put the app in her phone too? When she will be using CP, don't plug your phone in and turn your BT off?

unfortunately my phone auto connects unless she happens to get to the car first.

I think I just need to deal with extra alerts on my phone when i get in. I dont think there is a good solution here and thats not your fault. Its just annoying when you have two people lol.

Or, you could insist she turn off wifi and use your phone for CarPlay. She could still use cellular data while a passenger.

Then when she drives alone, she could leave wifi on and do CarPlay from her phone. In that case, you may want to add the scripts to her phone as well so it auto locks when she arrives at her destination.

If she didnt insist on DJing I would say that would work lol

This guy sells an auto lock/unlock module which is easy to install and does exactly what you are asking for. Installed in a gas tucson and works like a charm
