Just thought I’d cross post my comment from a Reddit thread on using a Tesla to J-1772 converter for others that may find themselves in locations with Tesla L2 chargers.
The PlugShare app can tell you where Tesla Destination chargers are if you use the filter button:
I’m going to be staying at a hotel or two that has several Tesla destination chargers but maybe one or two J-1772 chargers, with mixed status updates on whether they work or not on PlugShare. Therefore, I got the Lectron Tesla to J-1772 adapter as some others had: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...ompatible-Connectors-Destination/dp/B09M6KFV9T&usg=AOvVaw3mr2uqqyZ_9mtBFcTDzwx6
You do need to do things just right to initiate charging with the converter. Plug the Tesla plug into the Lectron converter and wait 30 seconds, plug into your Ioniq 5, wait for charging unsuccessful, then start the car with your foot on the brake. Took two tries on starting the car when I tested on a Tesla Level 2 charger tonight, but after that I was getting 9.6kW with no issues.
