Turn off USB when car off?

I use a CRUX wireless carplay adaptor and it stays on for a while after I turn off and exit the car. This is really annoying because it will keep a phone call connected to the car, even though it’s not on.

The other scenario is that it seems to stay on continuously if the car is charging. This means that my phone continues to connect to the carplay adaptor and won’t stay connected to my houses wifi.

Anyone have insights into this??

It's not what you guys what to hear, but the simple solution is just to added a maual switch, 10-15 minutes and you're done. You could do this at the fuse box (not sure what other devices could be impacted) or at the usb port (two ouside wires are your power wires).

Better yet, connect the power wires of the usb port to another accessory that powers on when the car is on and off when off. As long as you don't touch the middle wires (data) the function of the usb port should be the same

There is no fuse dedicated to the front USB port. But the idea of adding a relay in that power wire, controlled by ACC (Fuse F33 for example), might do the trick. If you can get access to the back side of the front USB port, the red wire should be +5v USB power.

Disclaimer - Any info I share regarding the Ioniq 5 wiring comes with absolutely no guaranty of correctness. The documentation consist of hundreds of pages of convoluted diagrams. Misinterpretations are possible, and there may be regional and trim level differences. Touch your car's wiring at your own risk, and proceed with caution. By that I mean it would be a good idea to poke around with a meter to confirm what I have shared. You may also want to access the full service documentation at Hyundai Global Service Way. VPN and a bit of money will be required.

Mine NEVER turns off, no matter what state the car is in the Carplay is on, permanently - so I can't use any of my Apple devices in my house because it constantly connects to the car. Every day I have to delete the car play connection and then set it up again when I want to drive the car. It's the most insanely crap design I've ever come across and I would strongly recommend that anyone with Apple devices doesn't buy an Ioniq as it will drive you nuts. Thank god I don't park below my office.

Someone found a fix using a splitter cable and a power blocker...

This hack works very well for me. No need to unplug the dongle when the car is turned off.
Prior to hooking it up, whenever my I5 recharged the 12v battery, the wireless dongle would wake up and grab my phone’s WiFi connection. This would mess with an in progress call, disconnecting if it was over WiFi(?) and hang anything that had an internet connection (e.g. browser sessions.)

(I have very poor cell service at home and WiFi calling is much more reliable and it’s automatically selected by the phone app because of the weak cellular connection.)

In case anyone comes here looking for ideas, I just bought one of these and it works perfectly to supply power to the CarPlay dongle from a different USB port that turns off with the car: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZDFGJY5?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

The problem I have is that the CarPlay port stays on whenever the car is charging, which means if it's plugged in in my driveway, the carplay adapter constantly steals my phone's wifi and audio. Super annoying.

I do think it's possible to do better: the stock port doesn't power off for 10min after you turn off the car, so if you leave briefly the dongle doesn't have to reboot. That's quite nice. I do wish there was some device that would power off the port only 10min after the external power got cut. But that's a tall ask and this is a good off-the-shelf solution.
