I don't know what the dealer would do. I'd guess they would say you abused it, but it's sure worth a try. At the used car dealership where I was helping out for a couple years after retiring, they had a specialist come in to fix stuff like that and he was amazing. Some tears , burns, & wear were beyond help, but he made most of them look like nothing happened.

 

it is just a small spot, so ima put some leather repair tape. but there seems to be a good number of complaints for this fake leather tearing. retiring....yah, after working forever, the first time i retired it was really boring. wife loved it, she was still working, so she comes home, dinner is waiting, the laundry is done, i was vacuuming so much the cannister wasnt picking up anything, because it had all been picked up. then, one day, i had taken the blinds down, and i was washing them outside, and i says, ef this, ima going back to work. and i did.

 

So far our I5 SE has not shown any seat wear after 65k miles. The seat covers are some sort of fabric.
