Resolving the CarPlay/Music Challenge

I think I've come up with the optimum solution to this challenge, which is caused by:
1 - There only being 1 smart USB port (other USB ports charge but don't connect to the Infotainment system) - why don't manufacturers provide 2??
2 - Conflict between wanting CarPlay features (Waze, WhatsAp etc) and my music library.
Additionally, modern cars don't recognise the iPod classic.
So you can create a music USB stick but then you can't use CarPlay.
I don't want to load my iphone with music (its already almost full).

So, I've found an old iphone, cleared all the apps except music and filled it with music.
Connect CarPlay with the USB, connect music iphone with bluetooth, select bluetooth media and.... done...
Have to remember to turn off the music iphone between journeys (doesn't charge when car is off).

I use a dedicated music player, a FiiO M11. Mad that there is not an aux in jack, but the Bluetooth works MOST of the time. Sometimes gets confused with my phone, and I have to reset that my Samsung is my phone and the FiiO is the music player. But does allow me to play flac files fine (all my music is flac) and the steering wheel control works fine for next song and the display shows the song titles and running time just fine (first pic).

I have the USB plugged into basically an android computer (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BSQQPYXQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details). This allows me to play things like YouTube music, let the passenger watch Netflix (and load any Android app I want). It does cause the car to get confused with other stuff, so I have a switch on it to turn it on and off when not using it (as I am never using it and my FiiO at the same time - see bottom of second pic and you can see it and the switch) Use my phone as a hotspot for it, works beautifully. Listened to a whole Journey concert on YouTube on a 90 min drive the other day, played perfectly (keep the display on the map, music still plays fine)
