Has anyone else swapped over to e.Primacy tyres and have any feedback about how long they last? I notice the e.Primacy tyres only have c.6mm tread rather than the c.8mm tread of the 4+ tyres.

Originally my Ioniq came with Energy Savers which had been discontinued (good, as these were a poor tyres). ATS swapped the tyres to Primacy 4+ (non EV) which gave a much quieter ride and didn't really seem to have much impact on the range.

Annoyingly even though my car had Primacy 4+ tyres on ATS have swapped the tyres to e.Primacy without letting me know. Straight away this tyre feels more slushy when turning and doesn't seem quite as grippy. With it having less tread makes me wonder if they won't last as long.

For reference both the Energy Savers and Primacy 4's have managed c.15,000 miles with my driving (fronts - no rotation). I don't drive to save the tyres by driving sedately, but also don't intentionally try and wear them out on purpose.

Who's ATS and why are they doing work on your car without your expressed permission? That should be illegal...

ATS Euromaster are a big tyre retailer in the UK (owned by Michelin). They weren’t changing my tyres without permission (I went in for new tyres :)). They just didn’t tell me which tyre’s they were fitting (I expected to get the same tyre as was on the car as I told them what was already fitted).

I just checked online, and it appears that the Michelin Primacy 4+ and Energy Savers are still available in the UK. Maybe the e-Primacy were the only replacements they had in your size at the time?

Have you recently checked your tyre pressures if you say the e-Primacy’s feel slushy. I remember after having new tyres fitted to my Leaf, they felt a bit weird. I checked the pressures, and they were all at 30psi rather than the recommended 36psi.

I think all Michelin tyres come as standard with 6mm tread when new, I’m happy to be proved wrong though.

Yeah, a lot of shops here (even the dealerships) just put 32 psi in everything without even checking what it says on the vehicle's load sticker. If its colder outside than the new rubber and the shop's compressor tank were acclimatized to, then boom, instant 30 psi cold pressure when you check them the next day. My '95 Dodge Avenger was 32 front, 29 rear, which made a huge difference in handling versus 32 all around. The Genesis Coupe was a uniform 35, our Santa Fe's 33, the Ioniq Plug-in 36, and our Tesla 42. I've never actually had a vehicle that was 32, yet it seems that's what every shop on the planet wants to use.

I reckon Michelin reducing to 6mm tread is a con. Less rubber = cheaper to make, & less life before you come back for more. Also makes the initial Rolling Resistance less, so make it look super-efficient.

I'm putting on Goodyear Efficient Grip 2s soon, I believe they have 8mm tread & reports say they last a very long time. These were OEMs on the iD.3 I had briefly, and felt very grippy on wet roundabouts at 10C in the wet, and I liked them.

Slightly higher RR when new than the Miches when new, but if you machine 2mm off them to leave 6mm tread, the RR is virtually identical! So it's as if Mich have removed about 2mm worth of mileage from an 8mm-tread tyre, then sold you that instead!

RR reduces as the tyres wear down, as less rubber is being distorted each revolution so less heat generation & energy loss. I'm seeing 210 miles on my GOM at 100% SOC in summer regularly, perhaps 10 miles more than when car was new, at a very rough guess.
