Jump Starter recommendations

I'd like your advice on a small 12V jump starter that I could keep in the frunk. Or is there already a thread that covers this subject?

I'm not experiencing any problems, just want to be prepared.

Thanks in advance!

I got mine from GOOLOO (but from Cdn site). I have used it for friends' vehicles a few times and on my ICE 3 times in one day prior to getting my I6. I can't remember which model is in my car but I think any of them would do the trick. They recommend charging the charger every few months, but mine has sat for up to 5 months without me charging and then when I do charge it still shows 3/4 bars of charge.

Costco also sells a version if you want the "returnability."

I've got three different ones (one being a Gooloo) and they all function very similar. They were all purchased through Amazon (good pricing and frequently on sale). Look over the extra features that you think you might use (flashlight, digital display, USB outlets, others) and the physical size you want.

Most recommend storing them in the frunk (front trunk) since the rear hatch may not open with low 12v voltage. The max current output isn't critical for the EVs, but you might want to assist others and then you might want to stay away from the lowest output ones.

For an EV you do not need many amps. Just need to power on the systems however You might as well have a good one and one that can help an ICE.

I recommend watching the below videos. Project Farm is great. He is 100% straight forward (fast and to the point) and has ingenious testing methods. Check is other tests also

(Note watch out on Amazon. There are a lot of look alike jumpers most are china brands)

This question was raised relative to the Ioniq 6, so keep in mind, the center console has a lot of space, some hidden, some not so much. But I keep my Noco jumper in the lower section of the console.

I put a BestEVMod tray in the lower section, and there are several sections to keep stuff a bit organized. I don't really use that lower storage section for much, other than the Noco jumper, Kleenex, Lectron Vortex NACS to CCS adapter, and temporarily dump stuff there to get it out of the way (which typically means it is there for months till I remember to clean it out).

When traveling, my Tesla Mobile Cord + Tesla to J1772 adapter go un the frunk. Not much room for anything else there.

A while ago I had a problem where my 12V battery didn't hold a charge anymore because I drained it too much with the air compressor to inflate a tire with a slow leak (the battery eventually replaced under warranty). I got a Noco GB20 booster via Amazon because the local car parts store only had a booster that was way more expensive.

The build quality is very good, it comes with a storage bag (though iI like to keep it in the box it came in) and price was very reasonable (I think I paid $80 or so). Even though this is the one with the lowest capacity I could find, I could jump start my 2023 Ioniq5 many times without recharging the booster (as long as I had enough charge in my traction battery of course).

The 12V battery only needs to power the low voltage systems which are just a few amps, so you don't need an expensive booster with a high maximum current.
