Hi,

I can't find a store that sells the 1711 kit because it's already discontinued.

Has anyone tested if the 5069 kit works on the Hyundai Ioniq? (With Thule 7105 EVO CLAMP)

Thanks.
I think Amazon can help you out. Otherwise maybe a 2nd hand?

The Thule 7105 EVO CLAMP with the 5069 kit fits the KIA K3 but I didn't test it. Maybe you can at a local dealer. If you do, let us know the result.

Thank you.

It isn´t on Amazon.es (Spain), and I think it isn't a good option Amazon USA because it's very expensive and now it could be sent very late.

I think that I'm going to risk buying the 5069 kit with the new Thule Evo Clamp, that I think also works.

I finally found the 1834 kit for the Hyundai Ioniq on this website: THULE 1834 Montagekit and it has already arrived and I have assembled it.
Thank you for your advise Patrick.

In the USA, eTrailer.com sells Yakima and Thule "no rail" roof racks that clamp on the door sils, and class-1 Curt & Draw-Tite tow hitches and wiring for Ioniq (those are different blue vs non blue?!).

U-Haul doesn't have a hitch, but offers to give you one free if you leave them your car in Tempe, AZ to make the template :)

Hi!
Just fitted my 2018 Ioniq EV with roof racks from a previous car that i owned. I had a Prius+ with these roof racks and i decided to check if they could fit the Ioniq. And they do!
This is the gear i used:
  • Thule WingBar 969
  • Thule Rapid System 754
  • Thule kit 1668

Has anyone considered trying to mount an after market tow-bar for mounting boxes on? In Europe, it is legal to mount these for carrying things like bicycle racks and similar, but not for towing trailers.

Anyway, I was introduced to the possibilities through a relative's Model X, which for obvious reasons cannot mount a roof rack. They use an HS-XBOX on the tow-bar and it works far better than expected, and is way easier and more practical than having a box on the roof.

Hello all,

Due to all this global madness, the chances of spending the summer break abroad were pretty slim, therefore I've decided to upgrade my tent. I am based in Ireland, a place world wide famous for its weather reliability, right? No, this ain't our strongest point, so a bigger size tent was definitely needed because, history has it every time I go camping it is going to rain. A bit like when I am washing the car to be honest :) I've ordered (online) new gear, all good... until it arrived and I've go to see the size of bleeding thing... I am now the proud owner of "pop-up" cathedral (yep it is that big, and this is before even being used - you know how it goes once you are using... it will somehow almost double in size when you try to take it down again).

Anyway to tackle this new challenge it was clear in needed more storage/travelling space, so ordering a roof-box was the answer. I drive a 2020 Ioniq EV and a couple of months back, after I have literally almost memorizing every replies on this forum conversation, I've decided to go for it and get myself the extra products. About a month ago now, I've ordered a Thule 754002 Rapid System Foot Pack & Thule 711300 Roof Racks to go with my Thule Pacific 200 box. All good until trying to source the "fecking" kit to go with it. From reading this forum chat, I was let to believe that either of the Thule 1834, 1711, or 1654 would work, but surprise surprise... I wasn't able to source any of them...I've ended up ordering two wrong sets so far... :( and I loosing hope I'll ever get the missing part.

I've contacted almost any reseller here in Ireland asking if they can source either of the three kits, and nothing...nada. One of them actually emailed Thule who apparently said that a new model will be on the European market in 3-4 months... I'm like serious? We are talking about 4 pieces of rubber coated oddly shaped pieces of metal sheet, is not like I'm trying to source a tone of uranium, right? What is even more frustrated is that you can find these kits in the US, but not here. I've emailed Thule asking why this is happening, but haven't heard back yet.

Anyway, if any of you have successfully installed a Thule 754002 Rapid System Foot Pack & Thule 711300 Roof Racks with a different kit, please let me know.

Thanks all for your time and patience to read through my rant...

All the best.

Welcome here!
I have no experience with this type of equipment, let's hope you will find a solution soon.

Welcome to forum @Lucacius22,

I use the 1711kit and it fits. Amazon still seems to be selling it.

In the Netherlands it is still sold (not sure if it's delivered or a fault on the site), thule dakdragers aluminium kia k3 4-dr sedan vanaf 2013- met glad dak

Thanks for the welcoming messages guys. Think I'm gonna go with the German site suggested by Pinone and try to order the 1834 kit. If that fails, I hope it doesn't, I'll look into the 1668 kit as per CCosta post.

I'm still amazed how difficult is to source such a basic product. Sure I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks again

Hey folks,

As promise, here's an update (last one on this topic actually ;)).

After just over a month of trying to mount the roof-box and after buying three different Thule kits...SUCCESS, I can finally confirm I've got the right product Thule 1834 all the way, baby!!! The German site doesn't deliver internationally or at least I wasn't able to place an order when selecting Ireland as "deliver to", but luckily I have friends based in Dusseldorf and used their address instead.
I'm attaching a few pictures to show you the final setup... Interestingly enough, the box and also the instructions provided with the kit were listing Hyundai Ioniq as the car model, therefore, I've followed their guidelines. With that said I still find it amusing these instructions were created by Thule themselves, who not longer than a week ago, told me they don't have a product for EU due to the vehicle manufacturer not signing off on the usage of roof-box and this car model.

Later all, and thanks again for your help and suggestions.

Do i see some rubber protection under this fitting kit? I also ordered kit 1834 from that germany site, and it comes without any protection... I really don't like that kit is supposed to be directly on car colour on the roof, i think it will scratch it.
Or do you make some rubber yourself? I would like to ask you for some detail picture :)

Hi there Andrej,

The protection tape you see in the pictures is something I've added myself as an extra caution after reading the conversations on this tread (I believe someone else has already done something similar). The kit is rubber coated, but I thought better be on the safe side and give it an extra layer of protection. If you're interested, this is the exact type I have ordered.

Best of luck.

I've wrapped part of my car with vinyl (because I could). Instead of taping the rack, you could put a bit of wrap to protect the paint there.
Look up 3M car or headlight vinyl wrap, or 3M transparent car bra on eBay.

Hi, I read through quite a few going back quite far. I'm in Vancouver, BC with a 2020 Ioniq EV.
My local roof rack shop, Rack Attack or Rack Stop want to charge me $624.80 Canadian for the Thule 1834 Traverse Fit Kit, Thule Square bar 135, Thule 480R Rapid Traverse and Thule S44 4 pack Lock Cores installed. The bar is square.
Is this a fair price?
