Hi guys, looking for a receiver hitch for my Ioniq 5 so I can install a bike rack for the summer. Also looking for a roof rack for our family road trips the summer.

Thx in advance,

Mike

Thanks for the Thule post and the Yakima - I really like the black Yakima roof rack, it will suit our black I5 really well, it seems to have less height off the roof as well, we like that. It does seem quite a bit harder to find the rack though being in Canada. Looking at this as we suspect we will be doing a road trip the end of June and a roof rack / receiver hitch is a must for a roof box and a bike rack on the back.

I installed the SRG hitch over the weekend using this install guide --> Ioniq-5-towbar-fitting-guide-etowbars.pdf The SRG install manual is certainly lacking and more pics would have been appreciated - torque specs would have been great too.

I've removed bumpers before and this one was a little more difficult. The hardest part was releasing the leading edges of the bumper from the holders/clips - this wasn't mentioned or indicated in the install manual I used. I went with the 1 1/4" option as all I need is to carry a bike rack so no hitch wiring was installed. The hitch sits right below the silver part of the bumper - essentially right below the bumper cover (no cutting is needed on the bumper cover). So ground clearance to the bumper has been reduced by the dimensions of the 1 1/4" receiver.

Overall it's a sturdy unit but will slightly reduce ground clearance.

Any chance you can post some pics of the setup? what cut out was required etc. Its seemingly one of the cheaper options in Canada so considering it vs say the new stealth hitch option which is likely to be 2-3 times the price!

No problem, feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I would recommend having a good part of a day set aside, take your time and use a light touch. The tail lights have 2 locating pins that need a good pull to release - I used a screw driver to aid in this but watch the paint. The wheel well trim has 4 clips holding the back portion on that need to be released, I found it easiest to gently tap one of the plastic pins out from inside the bumper to gain an edge to pop it off. There's orange power cables on either side of the bumper support which get in the way of the bolts needed to remove the bumper (final step). Finally, releasing the leading edge of the bumper (edges right above the wheel wells) was the hardest part for me - so take your time and don't use excess force, they need to be released slightly forward and to the side.

Hi. Burnaby hitch has good pricing as I bought roof rack from them. In the case of the trailer hitch Burnaby hitch is providing the stealth hitch at similar prices $800 plus to Hyundai dealers except Hyundai is not stealth and not original and will not work with Ioniq 5 menu as no wiring harness I know about. Cutting out is necessary and it's imported from Washington State by Rack Attack.

At the bottom, I unhooked the clip first. Then I wedged a plastic trim tool in from the top. You’ll have to release the clips from the side - in between the bumper cover and the metal body panel. I essentially used a small flat head screwdriver to lift the bumper slots over the bracket. I don’t think it’s possible to just ‘pull’ off the cover.
