SoCal,
If you're from Southern California, then we are from the same country. Except I live in Maine, which maybe from your perspective is another country, especially since you have sunny beaches and warm breezes and we have gray skies and ice storms (at least this time of year). And yes, our Ebikes weigh a ton. Mine is actually 50 lbs (a Bulls Grinder EVO) and my wife's is 40 lbs (a Trek Allant+). We ride a lot locally, but also like to head out and try rides further away. My 1Up platform rack needs a 2-inch receiver, period. I hope Hyundai is smart enough to accommodate!
Oh yeah I was 'slide" above that posted OK I can be dumb on the weekend Afterall I purchased a 50K car that does not have a hitch available

A couple more photos for those interested. Looks like they cut a neat hole in the bumper plastic. Ill email the dealer for you guys. The towbar and wiring cost me $NZ1650. No doubt cheaper elsewhere. We pay through the nose for everything in the Shaky Isles. Thats the cost of living in paradise:rolleyes:

Slyde, those are great photos. They really show exactly how the solution was executed. Your dealer was clearly resourceful. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Yeah, when I first saw this car, my thought was: how the **** do they install a bicycle rack receiver with a bumper faring like that?

Ok so someone asked about the part number for the tow bar with 2 inch hitch that I have. Turns out Hyundai NZ outsourced this to a local tow bar specialist who does hitches locally for all their vehicles. So I can confirm that it is possible to be done and can be done by a local supplier where you live. I have no other details about how it’s done sorry.

Thanks, Slyde, for getting back to us with this info. I’ll have to consult with some local businesses around here to see if they can replicate what your guy did. It looks like he did a Sterling job! Have fun with your new car!

I emailed them two days ago and haven't gotten a response
I emailed as well two days ago and no response.
I contacted them yesterday, she told me they lost there bilingual clerk and she confirmed me they don't ship outside of Canada. This said, I'm curious to know if they will continue this way since she told me yesterday that they got a lot of request and she didn't know why. I told here about this forum. 😄

Bummer. Seems like Hyundai rushed the car's release here before they had accessories available.

I was one of those request as well. Thanks for calling and maybe they change their minds.

I contacted Torklift Central, located in Kent, WA. They've made 2" receives for multiple small cars in the past. Got the following response:

"Thank you for reaching out to us. At the moment we don't have any immediate plans for releasing an Ioniq 5 hitch, but considering our history with hitches for EVs, I'd be surprised if we didn't make one. If you'd like, I can add your information to our product development sheet. This lets our team know there is interest in a product for a particular vehicle. Please let me know if you have any questions or anything I can help with."

They were ok with me sharing this info (no affiliation), contact them if you're interested: support@torkliftcentral.com

Thanks, I also emailed them. They have been responsive in the past.

I did as well, they asked to have my car for about a week. I'm 3 hours south so that might be a little hard... Let us know what they say! Thanks for being the guinea pig!
Dang. Just got back from a 10 day (flying distance) trip last weekend that would have been perfect to hand over my car while not using it.
