Anyone have luck retrofitting H7 HID or LED bulbs?

I just tried and failed. apparently the ioniq uses a special bulb holder for the H7 bulb.

I bought an adapter online but found its a little off. The bulb sits loose in it.

So unless anyone has any ideas, will need to wait until someone comes with a proper adapter.

It's generally not a good idea to retrofit those bulbs into a halogen housing anyway, even if it's a projector. The bulbs are a different physical size and you can end up dazzling oncoming traffic. In some places, it's not legal at all. I'd look into that too.

Not as extreme, I wanted to replace the stock H7's in my USA SEL (the low beam bulbs) with the 30% brighter bulbs. I got the back covers off the bulb assemblies, but was unable to twist the sockets out to change the bulb. I wasn't able to get enough leverage on the the tabs to get them to turn, and I'm afraid if I tried turning them with some sort of tool (if I could even get one in there) would snap off the tabs.

Does anyone know if there is some sort of trick to this? Or is it necessary to pull out the entire headlight assembly, and if so how is this done? Even if I weren't trying to upgrade the bulbs this is something I should know for when the original bulbs need to be replaced in the future.

Thanks for your help.

Have you found an adapter to lock in the new LED H7 bulbs? If anyone has done it, you can email me at joel_rabouin@rogers.com

Ok. Bulbs are in. I bought the same brand and style for both the high and low beams. The high Beam are in. Only issue there is the orientation or not symetrical. On the driver side the LEDs face left and and right. On the passenger side the LEDs face up and down. See the link to understand.

I don't know that I will notice a difference in the beam. Logic says I will. We shall see.

Now on to the low beam projector H7 bulbs. Yes you are right the bulb is a bit confusing at first. See attached picture. The kind I bought (see link) will not work and are going to be returned.

From the attached picture left to right you see:
1. the bulb wire harness. 2. wrong style h7 bulb 3. OEM H7 style bulb.

I just edited this post because originally I found the "right" style H7 led but they are all low lumen fog lights that specifically say not suited for high beam low beam.

for example:

However, I found this:

https://www.amazon.com/Headlight-Re..._6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1519943109&sr=1-6&keywords=hyundai+led+bulb+adapter

Not sure but it looks like this may be the adaptor needed?????????????????

(TO THE OP: was this the adaptor you tried? if not which one?)

Even if this adaptor works it will require you to push/pull the wires out of the OEM adaptor, and use some kind or rubber or plastic protectors to prevent the two wires from touching. Also, the bulb and wires probably will not tuck back inside the housing with the old and new adaptors together. FURTHERMORE...you want it all tucked back inside so you can put the air/water tight cap back on.

I have purchased the lasfit and it does fit and works great, but one major issue, I cannot close the dust cover due to the LED housing sticks out about 2mm, contacted Lasfit and I have an a few options, 1. return for a full refund within 45 days, 2. modify dust cover or LED housing at the tip by cutting out and return even that does not work.
Their video shows it works but the video ends there without closing the dust cover, they are getting a same trouble shooting customers like me.
I will try this weekend and share more thoughts.
