Hello all,
My car should be arriving later this week, and after hearing about a spate of stolen cars nearby recently, I was wondering if using a steering lock would fit. I'm thinking of getting something like the Stoplock 'Pro Elite' Car Steering Wheel Lock. Thanks.

More like being stolen off the parking space, from my driveway or public carpark. I've read that thieves have managed to scan and steal remote unlocking codes for all these wireless locking systems.

I was thinking of using something like this to slow them down and hopefully deter them from trying.

I don't have such a need, but if I did I'd take a different approach. Simply find a low-voltage wire for a start button, brake pedal, seat sensor, or anything that needs to be engaged for the car to start. Then install a toggle switch that I stuff into an accessible but very discreet location.

Just flip the switch when you leave the car, switch it back on when you use the car. A thief, not knowing that requirement, will have gotten himself into the car and now needs to get it turned on quickly and go before he's spotted. He won't hang around trying to diagnose a non-responsive car.

I've not used a steering lock since the '90s. Just curious, is this similar to the Hyundai/Kia thefts in a few states in the US where specific groups were targeting entry level models without specific ignition protection or car theft in general?
