Anyone have experience with dash cameras? Looking to purchase a basic one. Some have continuous recording with constant power supply, not sure if that is something I want or not. Garmin has an adapter that connects to OBD port for constant power but it looks like our USB-A port in the console is constant also? The owner's manual says not to use constant power devices, maybe because there could be an interruption in power? Or maybe the 12v system just can't handle it.

We just use the mirror tap on the IONIQ 5 side. I've got the 70mai True 4K Dash Cam A800S, front and rear camera, ~$100, rear camera homerun's for signal and power to the front camera and that piggy backs off the mirror, love it, zero issues over a year of driving.
My I6 SEL with home link has no plug, the wire goes straight from the windshield plastic housing into the mirror housing right at the swivel joint.

There's a single cable to the camera in the rear that runs along the headliner, to the gasket around the door and down into the trim pieces where they meet the headliner and to the rear hatch. Very clean!

I ended up going with one of the best Insta360 cameras for all-around coverage because I wanted front, rear, and side views without having to wire up multiple units. It was easier to install than I expected, just mounted it centrally, and I can access all angles from the app. Night footage is decent too, which surprised me—no more guessing what happened around the car.
I went through the same hunt a while back and ended up going with a 360 cam setup. Found some cool suggestions at https://www.technology.org/2025/05/20/the-best-360-action-camera-in-2025/ and picked one that works well even in low light and tight spots. Mounted it just behind my rearview and wired it into the fuse box using a hardwire kit—pretty clean look and always ready to record.
