Thanks for updating your signature. I have to be honest, that's where I looked for your location.

I'm in Langley and to me honestly, the best deal I've found is from Abbotsford Hyundai. It's so nice to book an appointment and not be told that 24,000 km is well over the recommended oil change interval and my warranty could be void now. However, I know that one of the big EV supporters from Abby relocated to the Chilliwack branch and so I expect that they will also be up on EV's now. You could try them. It's an easy drive for me down the freeway and I enjoy the trip out to the country.

The service only takes 30 to 45 mins. I try to book it for first thing on a Saturday (8:30) and I'm usually home again by 10am.

Thanks for the info, OB! That's good to know. I'll keep reaching out!

I have been quite shocked at some of the local dealerships' published "required" maintenance schedules for EVs. The most common one I'm seeing is pushing for four services a year at: $50+$100+$50+$300.

"Oil change"...haha. If I recall correctly, I had one (likely inexperienced?) advisor at one point tell me that at 12,000 kms I would be due for an oil change. I reminded them that I was calling about an EV. He proceed with: yes, reduction gear oil change. I quickly wrapped up the conversation.

Well thats good don't think I will go to Abby myself. I was about to buy off them when the 2020 came out and they marked it up over MSRP by $2500, apparently Chilliwack did too when I called them to switch my reservation. Ended up going to Open Road in Burnaby and they had it at MSRP and offered the Iron Grey which neither Abby or Chilliwack were offering as colors. But I think I will end up going to Chilliwack to service since I have talked to the EV guy there a handful of times, helps a lot on the Canadian Ioniq EV group on FB, and it helps its only 10 minutes from my house.

When I was calling around for quotes and had to pay for the "dealer forced accessory package" or whatever garbage that was when I talked to the guys at Open Road in Burnaby the sales man was listing off the package at $500, going through that you get floor mats (which still haven't come in 4 months later yet....), first maintenance free, etc. and then goes on to say you get your first oil change free too and I said "ummm this is an EV theres no oil", and he's like "sorry we will knock the package down to $400"

Sometimes these guys are just so engrained in what they know that a change doesn't help them haha. Also 4 services a year? Geeze even hyundai official site says "sever conditions" are 12k/service (when dealers are trying for 6k like mine did until I asked him about the official site's recommendation).

Let me know who you get your service done by and how it went when it happens.

Yeah. I unfortunately placed too much trust in Abby (bought from the Abby guy who is on the FB group, not sure if he's on here too). Learned things the hard way and still trying to deal with issues nearly a year later. Anything under the TAG family definitely is an avoid at all costs for me now.

Definitely was thrown off by Open Road Hyundai Boundary when they shared their EV service recommendations. The version they shared with pricing was surprisingly a bit different from the version posted online. Not to mention both are quite different from what the manual specifies.

:unsure::rolleyes:

Update: Just had my 12-month service done at Jim Pattison Hyundai Surrey.

After reaching out to more dealerships and a few independent mechanics that have some hybrid+EV experience/training, JPHS seemed to be the most reasonable and knowledgeable. As my IONIQ is new and still under warranty for many aspects, I ultimately gave a higher preference for going with the dealership route. For me, it's useful to have them know more history of the vehicle rather than working with an independent shop and then a dealership for warranty items only.

Happy to report that it was a great straightforward experience. The service advisor I had (Corey) definitely understood that EVs have different servicing needs than ICE vehicles and knew that for the most part everything was mostly a simple inspection.

Got everything done (except for the cabin air filter replacement - doing it myself w/aftermarket parts) for essentially the cost of a tire rotation (plus taxes and minimal shop charges). No up-sells at all - in fact, he even reported that the technicians removed my cabin air filter, cleaned it a bit, and noted it was still on good condition so I could even wait a while before replacing it. Definitely earned my ongoing business.

Sweet good up know. I'm headed to abby in 2 weeks because my new 2020 doesn't have A/C working and both Chilliwack and Burnaby don't do weekends (or Atleast for diagnostics) so hopefully they can do it and figure it out

Out of curiosity, is it completely dead or is the heating working at least?

Yes, confusing as ****.

Just picked up my 2020 Ioniq EV (Preferred). My wife has owned a 2018 Ioniq EV since June of 2018. I have downloaded the manual for both years to compare the maintenance which are identical.

The change that I have noticed from the first poster is that in addition to the recommended tire rotation every 6 months / 6 000 kms, the manual now suggests to also inspect the cooling system hoses and connections every 6 months / 12 000 kms as well as inspecting the 12v battery condition every 6 months / 12 000 kms.
