Has anyone secured a lower priced service than if you took in an ICE to get serviced?
I think these places have like service tiers and just blindly charge a tier even though they are doing less than they would for an ICE vehicle.

Got mine done for CAN$160 which included replacing the cabin air filter.
 
May I ask where? (for when mine gets to a year old)
Do they seem to know what they are doing?


Mine is signaling it needs a service, however it's only done 4400 km at the moment.
I got mine serviced at Abbotsford Hyundai. Yes, they seemed to know what they were doing. However, the battery SoH check was not completed. I was never fully able to determine why not.
Either the equipment was not working at the time, or they don't have it. Since all the other work is just checks, the SoH check was that main reason I decided to take the car in. I will perform the checks myself in future if they don't have the necessary SoH equipment ready and working. The owners manual sets out all the checks in detail.

As for the service reminder, that is a user programmable feature on the BEV. Just go into your user settings and set it correctly for your trim and country. For me "servicing" is required every 12 months or 24,000km. So you definitely should not need to see the dealer after 4,500 km.

Interested in that dealer not conducting a SoH check and how that would play into any future battery warranty claims. Did you check with Hyundai Canada why this would not get done, or is there an internal list of specific dealers in your area that would be able to perform that test? Don't want them to turn around and say you didn't do this blah blah blah.
 
I was browsing the Hyundai Canada website. Under the 'Owners' menu there is a maintenance schedule page where you can put in your car model and it tells you when to go for a service and what they should check. On this website it says to go in every 6 months / 6,000 km's (same as a gas car!).
If you drill in to the checks, it seems a bunch of BS checks like top up the washer fluid, check the lights are working and check the tire pressures.

Kinda cheeky considering the sales department are telling prospective buyers that it only needs servicing every year.
 
My Canadian 2018 SE electric has worked flawlessly since I bought it in Feb of 2018. It is 14 months old now and has 39,000km on the clock. The 1 yr/24,000 km service was uneventful and no issues were detected.

However, recently my rear brakes started to make a noise (a clunky bang) when I drive off after engaging the parking brake when wet and leaving it over night. I assume it's just the disks and pads sticking slightly due to rust and is not a safety problem - more of an annoyance and can wait till my next service.. Am I right? Is it a common problem with the BEV? Is it a warranty/recall thing?

Last night the lock/unlock button on the driver's side door stopped working. I prefer to use it over the fob, so I plan on taking the car back to the dealer for repair under warranty right away. Since I'll be taking the car in anyway for the lock button, I'll get them to look at the brakes too. But, are there any other recall or common problems I should get attended to while I'm there?

I think you are right. It is simply the brake pads sticking to the rotors.

I get the same clunk on the brakes with auto hold and driving off every so often. When it happens that is when I know it is time to put it in N and do 1-2 hard braking scenarios and the clunk goes away. Neutral uses only friction braking, no regen.

I use the door handle keyless entry button every day as well, prefer it over the key. My driver side had caved in and got hard to use during the worst of winter, however, after winter was finished, I just mashed the button in about 10 times and now it has gotten back to normal and has the tactile click feel as it did when new.

I got a maintenance reminder from the dealer and ignored it. Only have 11,000 KM and no major problems. Only thing I noticed is my drivers side rear door hinge appears to have gotten surface rust. I'm going to clean it and get some white lithium grease or maybe Fluid film on it and do every other hinge as preventative maintenance.

There is a new updated map firmware upgrade, maybe you can get the upgrade at the dealer (version 13), or you can do it yourself at home.
 
I took a picture of "recommended" maintenance schedule from the Hyundai dealership in Oakville, Ontario (Canada). Is it the same everywhere else? I feel like it's rather costly, but I understand it's mostly labour cost.

I just took my 2017 Ioniq EV for Level 2 maintenance (24,000 as shown in the picture). This is the first time I've taken the car in for service, I bought it pre-owned this year. Total cost came down to $916 CAD after tax. I paid additional amount of $350 + tax to clean the rust build-up on rotors.

I told them I do use the breaks by occasionally turning regenerative breaking off while I'm driving. Apparently I'm not doing it enough. The service manager told me to put the car in Sport Mode once a week and use the break.

Here's what Hyundai Dealers in B.C. are giving to their EV owners. Prices can vary somewhat from Dealer to Dealer but still vastly different than what you have posted. Strange that the Service Maintenance intervals are NOT the same as in the Hyundai Owner's Manual ( every 24k, rather than every 12k as directed by local Dealers ) How can your Ontario Dealer justify a $309.95 difference between the Level 1 and Level 2 Service, when all they're doing extra is a Brake Service and a Cabin Air Filter. For example, a Brake Service at Richmond Hill Hyundai is only $29.95 .. and a Cabin Air Filter is around $60 installed ( easy.. you can do it yourself ) ......Some credibility issues here ???

I got a quote of $396 for the 48,000 km from one dealer. Called another asking the same question and they quoted $69. Needless to say I forked over the $69.
 
I feel like they take advantage of the fact they are one of two Hyundai dealership in the area. and yes, they want EV owners to come in more frequently than the actual owner's manual schedule.. when I asked about that they said "our climate" here can put more strain on the car. (really?) Oakville is the closest dealer to where I live (I don't live in Oakville but close by). I will visit Burlington Hyundai (the other one) next time and see what they offer. Will report back!
