My daughter just got a 2018 Elantra (ICE, I'm still the only EV owner in the house) and I was shocked to see the various apps the head unit has. It's been a couple weeks, but I'm pretty sure I saw Spotify and a few other interesting things.

I've never been able to install any apps on my head unit. Is there some sort of magical spell you have to cast to be able to do this?

Also, in the menu on my 2017 Ioniq it has an option for the background image, but the button doesn't do anything. Anyone have any insight?

Hmmm, I'm not aware of any way to add apps! The thing I do to get apps is Android Auto, and I'll assume that Apple Airplay works the same way. There are a handful of apps that are authorized for use (including Spotify), and the ones I use most often are Waze and Amazon Music in split screen mode. This is insanely cool, and other than maybe doing it wirelessly (available via third-party dongle and apparently coming soon in an upcoming software update), I honestly can't think of how I'd want to improve it. I don't know about the background image though, so hopefully someone else can help!
