2025 Ioniq5 leased in July, barely 1300 miles driven

While dropping off kid to school (25mph neighborhood), the car abruptly applied brakes and then automatically engaged the parking brake. Display flashed ABS Error / Check brake system. The car felt like it was coasting to a halt and was very hard to apply the brakes and get it to stop. After a power off and reset, it disappeared and cautiously limped home. Later, it appeared again, seemingly randomly. Car was clean, nothing obstructing the front radar or ultrasonic sensors.

Had to get it towed to a Hyundai dealer about 4 days ago since it's under warranty. They promised to take a look at it and get back to me. So far left 3 callbacks and they've not yet replied.

Absolutely loved the car before this happened.

Wheel speed sensor?

All I have from blue link is U012987 (ELECTRIC VEHICLE Hybrid Control), that according to a search is "The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U012987 signifies a lost communication with the skid control ECU (Electronic Control Unit), or Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) control module, likely due to a problem with the vehicle's CAN (Controller Area Network) communication system ".

So a faulty wheel speed sensor could be one of the causes. Saw lots of videos about Hyundai/Kia having this issue. Thought any manufacturing issue would have been sorted out by now, esp for such a new vehicle. Could also be just poor wiring/connectors.
