2018 vs 2019 PHEV

So I just got a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq PHEV Limited from Maryland a few weeks ago, (specifically asked for a 2019 Limited without the Ultimate Package), and fully charged it displays 27 miles of battery range.

This got me thinking that it's weird it doesn't show it at its listed range of 29. So I started to look into it, and it looks like the 2018 model year was listed at 27 miles of battery range. Which makes me think I bought a 2018 model year, NOT a 2019.

I put in the VIN into the following website, and it gave me "2019 Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid Limited 4 Cylinders 1.6L DI HEV DOHC", which kind of quelled my anger, but now I'm just confused.

So now I'm just trying to independently verify which model year I got. Are there key indicators to identify a 2019 year model vs a 2018 year model? I'd hate to start stirring up trouble with the dealer if I'm actually wrong/misinformed.

It will show 29 miles remaining on electric if you shut off the AC. Mine does the same thing.

Using "Driver Only" on the AC will make a difference on the miles you get but not on the displayed number. The miles remaining is an estimate so you'll sometimes drive for a bit on 0.

The heated seats doesn't seem to change the number. Any real heat will start the engine, something to keep in mind.

The car is very very complicated. I'm still trying to figure out a lot of things myself.

I think the VIN is the best indication of model year you can get.

That range display is just an estimate anyway, and will vary a lot. Just in the past couple weeks my 2019 PHEV has shown anywhere from 26 to 29 electric miles on a full battery. It'll likely be even less in winter.

Think of the 29 as a maximum, not a guarantee, similar to the proclaimed gas mileage of a non-plugin car.

Rfunk, I totally understand what you're saying about the battery, although the indicator bar is there on the right, I'd rather the range to just be shown as a percentage. But that's the reason it took me so long (2 weeks?) to look into why it was showing 27 instead of 29. All it was was an indicator to me that something's amiss.

At this point, I'm just trying to figure out if I was tricked. Per Michigan, I'll check tonight and see if turning off the AC changes the number. Hopefully it will.
