There have been a few reports of people having the same problem.
In other threads the culprit has turned out to be a low spec USB cable. Solved by substituting a high quality cable. I can’t be sure of course but you might give it a try.Has anyone else experienced the USB data port dropping connection? I first experienced this with the Car2Go dongle and chalked it up to that hardware, but it's also happening with a wired USB connection. It's not a ton, but consistent enough to make it a nuisance.
My car just developed this problem. I play mp3s from a thumb drive, plugged directly into the usb port, so I know it's not a usb cable issue. (I even tried another usb drive, in case mine was defective.) About a month ago, the usb music starts cutting in and out at random times, switching to radio or silence. It can happen anywhere from several times an hour to several times during one song. It's due for the 10,000 mile free tire rotation at the dealer soon, so I will have them fix it at the same visit and let you know if I learn anything.Has anyone else experienced the USB data port dropping connection?
