Looks a million dollars without looking like a drug dealers car - after the dark colours only the white looks better with dark glass, IMHO.

Finishes The Look, perfectly.

Gotta agree Simon. They really suit this car... I thought they looked good on my old black Focus, but these are even better. That said, the tinting guy did say the bottom window of the hatch was a real pig to do!! He made a great job of it though. Happy to recommend him if anyone is around the West Berkshire area.

Do give `em a plug mate! We've had a couple of tinted topics and it's always good to know specialists who have experience with the Ioniq, given the odd shapes involved!

Looks like a dream!
Which makes me wonder, why Hyundai offers no factory tinting...

Either way, job well done! I believe you'll like it now :)

Is that new glass, or a laminate film applied to the inside of the glass?

How much did it set you back?
Alex, it's a film applied to the inside. I'm not allowed to lower the windows or use the rear heater for at least a week.

It's 20% film and it cost £230 in all from Storm Tinting in Thatcham, Berkshire. Good guy to deal with and knows his stuff.

I wish I could have it at the front sides as well, but sadly not legal.

Thanks for the price. £230 isn't hideously expensive. I could be tempted. Maybe go for the drug dealer look, with 5% tints on my white one?

As for the front windows, 70% is the legal limit for the sides, which is better than no tint at all, I suppose.

I'm down Sussex way. Could get to Thatcham if I had to (lived there for two years as a kid, near Francis Bailey and Kennet schools). Looking at these guys - http://www.roadradio.com/window-tinting/ - as they're close to me, but curious about their pricing; it seems a tad low compared to what you dropped. Very conscious of the "get what you pay for" maxim...

£230? That's quite expensive - I used South Coast Tints in Southampton

£187 inc VAT.

£100 does seem curiously cheap...

Mine was quoted at 180 before he saw the rear window.

Looks like South Coast Tints is getting my business. Everyone local whom I called responded with, "Never done one before. We can give it a go. By the way, that smaller pane at the bottom of the hatch could be perspex," or similar encouraging sentiments.

In contrast, South Coast Tints said, "Yes, we've done a few already; we've got the experience. And no, it's not perspex. It's all glass."

I appreciate that the local businesses won't get any experience of Ioniqs unless someone's willing to be first. But that ain't me. :)

The guy tinting my car said similar thing - after gently knocking on it with his nail a few times, he said it's not glass and while there's no problem tinting it, with time the adhesive may start releasing gasses (especially when left parked in sun) and some small blisters may (but don't have to) pop up. He said it all depends what kind of material the bottom one's made.

I've decided to tint it anyway, and should the need to replace the film arise, I can spare 20 pounds every two years, but so far, so good.
BTW, my local tinting shop priced their service 120 pounds. Maybe you wanna come down to Poland to have yours tinted? :)

Here in the US depending on region some dealers automatically tint the car and then try to charge buyers double or triple what their cost is.

During my purchase I made it clear I would not pay for tint, and in fact would charge the dealer to remove it... they ended up not charging me for tint.

I would have tinted the car with my own preferred film. Tint film blocks UV rays which is important for long lasting interiors and protecting the skin from harmful damage.

Imho all hybrids in warm climates should be tinted, to help keep the car cooler and increase fuel efficiency by reducing the use of the AC.

Let me know when you're coming over Alex and perhaps we could get together if I'm around - the tinting takes a couple of hours and there's a couple of good tourist-y spots worth visiting nearby. If you're not familiar with the New Forest...

SCT are `official` tinters for the local Richmond Hyundai dealership and I've had all my cars done there for years for a number of different employers so they've done all sorts of Hyundais.

I had my white Ioniq tinted with 20% tint yesterday. The job was done by Ultimate Tinting in Tunbridge Wells and a very professional job was done. I had all the windows aft of the B pillar done. Ed, the technician, took 4 hours to do the job, but he did remove all the side windows completely from the car to achieve an edge to edge tint. Most of the YouTube videos about tinting show the film being applied with the windows in situ. I am more than happy with the finished result. The cost was £240 and comes with a 10 year guarantee.

Love the tinting with this color Ioniq. It looks like the mods are coming once the specialty equipment manufacturers realize the opportunity with this car. the new buyers could have some real fun with graphics with the shape of this car.
were there any other tint color choices?

Just shades of grey were on display from 70% to 5%, but I dare say any colour is available from those who do car pimping.

These do looks really good but I always find it a little quirky when the front windows aren't tinted. I know it's not legal in a lot of places but I think it looks kinda off-putting no?
