The Bluelink App question, comment

This seems odd to me. I was thrilled that the Bluelink app gave me a detailed status report about the car. The car "on or off," doors locked or not, windows closed or not, and so on. Except on my car even with the windows open, the app says they are closed. In the detail page, listing each window individually it always shows all of them closed, no matter what. Is this a joke or do you have to have a higher trim level for these to work?

Cheers

There's no window status in my Bluelink app here in Denmark. I wish it had! But only if it works ;-)
No window status for my SE in the US. Blue link doesn’t always have the current status of the car, refresh it to request the car status.
We do have this in Canada

.

I have checked and it always says all windows are closed, no matter what (so far). Going to check right now because at least two are open. Just checked Windows Closed according to Bluelink. Clicking on Full List and each individual window is shown as closed.

I always do that, often more than once to see if it changes. No. It just does not register windows as being open and actually gives incorrect information.

Serious question, I am going to take delivery of my Ioinq 5 on Thursday. I hear a lot of Horror stories about the Bluelink app. Do I actually need it? What advantages does the app give me? Sounds like the app is more hassle than its worth. The carsJubilee guy on youtube has had a lot of problems with in phantom starting his climate control etc.
Bluelink necessary? No.
Bluelink convenient? Yes.

TL;DR - Bluelink is a convenience and can be handy…while a free service. Should it begin to cost, it would not be worth it for me.

In its current incarnation in the US, one may initiate (and stop) climate control activities to prep the car. This is very nice in cold or hot weather. Other “neat, cool” features: lock and unlock doors, handy if you forgot to lock the car and are getting warning messages just after beginning to enjoy that $65 restaurant prime rib. You may also trigger the lights and horn. I’ve found that useful in crowded parking areas where I’m not completely sure where my car actually is. This can also be a warning at night in less-safe parking areas.

Other than the vehicle controls above, Bluelink also shows whether the car is locked/not, battery level of charge, estimated range for that charge level, and some occasionally interesting car historical information on trips.

Bluelink will also show your valet setting, whether enabled or not. Unfortunately you cannot change this from the app, only in the car, but at least you can confirm on or off.

Horror stories? There is nothing BAD involving it.

yes the app works. It does provide basic information and status. I use it to check locked status. You can lock the doors if they are locked. You can also unlock. They are circumstances where a fob can get locked in the car and you can unlock

You can checkbattery level and adjust charging limits and charge times

Set climate to warm or cool before you get in

(check vehicle location……if you want to see where someone is)

While the Bluelink App is not smooth... for example a couple of times a week it asks me to sign in again to prove who I am and often when you press the update button (well there isn't actually a button, just a part of the screen) to see how your charging is going (say from a restaurant while it is at a charger) you sometimes get a message telling you the app is processing another request. You just have to wait. But one of the best things is the car tracking. My wife drives our car a lot and rather than bother her on the phone I can see if she's on her way home very easily. It's not a necessity but it sure is a convenience.
