No, it looks more like dark metal than chrome. Its a semi-transparent "smoke" color, the more you use, the darker it is.

I think it looks brown/rusty coloured because of the yellow/orange lighting the photo was taken in. If you can show us what it looks like under a white light or outside, we can really see the effect you're going for

Why don't you remove the badges instead? Use a hear dryer and some floss and be patient.

Hopefully this shows it better, its more of a match for the bumper piece now

I haven't figured out how to do the chrome under the window. I think vinyl would be easier and cleaner than trying to mask out for PlastiDip.
