As far as I can tell now that the configurators are up these are the differences between an SEL and a limited but I got some questions.

  • Power-folding side mirrors
  • Premium gloss-black exterior accents
  • 6-way manual adjustable passenger seat
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Integrated Memory System (IMS) for front driver seat
  • Bose Premium Audio System
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) (2nd row)
  • Wide sunroof
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers
  • Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2)
  • Surround View Monitor (SVM)
  • Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM)
  • Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist – Reverse/Forward/Side (PCA-R/F/S)

Things I would like to add back in

Power-folding side mirrors
This should be pretty easy to add but will likely need coding any 5 owners done this?

Heated steering wheel
Hopefully the same situation as the power mirrors

Premium gloss-black exterior accents
What does this mean? is this the bottom of the car or around the window trim?) and if it is the bottom what color is on the SEL? Silver? Unpainted plastic?

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) (2nd row)
This has changed now that its on the site, does these mean the adpater that plugs into the charge port will work on the SEL and SE?

The glass black exterior accents are door window trim on I5. The SE and SEL are unpainted black plastic

For V2L, the exterior adapter will work on any trim. The V2L included with Limited trim is built in under the second row seats for access inside the cabin.

Fwiw, the mirrors and heated stearing wheel alone will likely set you back $2k - $3k with labor, if they're even possible to add to non-limited trim (there may be software limitations or required wiring that's not present on SEL and SE)

Any of the listed electronics have interface to the software for control. Very unlikely the dealer can load software not applicable for that VIN.

You said coding. Yes on some vehicles you can edit software code to enable items. I don’t believe anyone has hacked this code. Way too new. And I suspect it is ALL dependent on software installation

My 23 sel came with folding mirrors and heated steering. I wish it had auto tilt down in reverse mirrors and rain sensing wipers

I would if I could option it without a sunroof, that's the only thing stopping me
Some of features might void warranty especially interior v2L.
Yeah all my GM's had outlets on the inside and i've never used them, Plus as long at the charge port one works that would be fin.
Also you need Hyundai GDS to activate features.
Perfect, I research into this, I come from the GM world and own a techII and have used sps2 on every car I've owned lol

Worth it especially when I can install it myself

I haven't tried it obviously but where are the korean brands in general on the scale?

Germans? Good luck. If you don't have a high-line cluster you won't be adding things.
Japanese? Basically all the wiring harnesses are pre-wired for all trims (that's how I added factory heated leather seats to the miata, what a breath of fresh air coming form german cars).

Where do the Korean brands lean? Everything wired up to save cost or no?

This will be my first Korean car, for reference I'm ex ase certified 12 technician. I imagine it would be there and you may have to add a sub harness but I truly won't know until I have the car in my grubby giant hands. However with how cars are made it's probably a module and the part your adding and the wirring there, its way more complex to have a full separate harness for everything.

If you are talking 2023 specs your comparison is way off and you’re missing several key features on the limited such as HUD, the “relaxation function” seats, the bigger rims, and Bose speakers. Also SEL includes power folding mirrors and heated steering wheel. You don’t need to add that yourself.

Go to the Ioniq 5 page and click “compare” and pick SEL and Limited and check the box “highlight differences”. The upgrade is definitely “worth it” (ie you get a lot) for the roughly $5k difference but I did not want a pano roof, the bigger wheels cost you range, and the silver wheel arches don’t look good with Shooting Star. The “relaxation” seats are only useable if nobody is sitting behind you and the HUD is cool but not necessary.

SEL is a great spec for all the safety features and autonomous driving features included and the exterior “upgrades” on the Limited are somewhat questionable in terms of improving appearance. I don’t think there is any Limited functionality that I would bother adding myself other than maybe a stereo upgrade and if you are plugging your phone in anyway the sound quality is much better than running it via BT.

360 camera was the dealbreaker for me. If the SEL trim had it I could live with that trim (like how the EV6 Wind has tech package). Premium audio is a nice bonus but the Limited trim audio is not premium to my ears and needs upgrading anyhow.

X1000000000. I wish automakers kept packages for real premium audio, I'd pay for it gladly.

i have an SEL and it does have folding side mirrors and heated steering wheel.

what i am disappointed the most that didnt come with a 50K+ car are standard features like..memory seat, auto adj passenger seat, and rain sensing wipers. these features are even standards on most 30K cars.
