Got this message on my phone a few minutes ago. I've been putting off the recall because my car has been fine and I never drive it in the manner it was having design problems with, that and going to the dealer is not on my list of things I like doing.. šŸ˜‚

Interesting to note they are doing safety recalls via OTA updates, this is a new feature I presume?

As @SalisburySam says, Tesla's been doing this a lot, and for several years. In fact, both Tesla and many Tesla fans complain that calling something that can be fixed via an OTA software update a "recall" is misleading because the fix is so easy and almost automatic. When I owned a Tesla, I got similar electronic notifications from time to time, and once or twice by snail mail for particularly serious issues. Often, though, they were just quietly installed and I'd only know about them if I studied the release notes or heard about it on a Tesla forum or in the EV press.

With Hyundai and other automakers starting to catch up to Tesla on the car software update front, I expect we'll see more of this sort of thing for other cars. As you said, @79Bry, installing a (nearly automatic) OTA software update certainly beats going to the dealer!

I knew Tesla had been rolling out OTA safety recalls for quite a while. I did not know Hyundai had already been doing it. Interesting to note, several days have passed, and I have no indication of an update in progress on the actual car. I wonder how long it will take between this push notification on my phone and the update actually happening on the car itself?

Once the update is downloaded to the vehicle, a screen will appear, prompting you to follow the necessary steps.
On my I5N, the update has already been completed, and the procedure should take approximately 15 minutes. The coolant pump will be running, and you will be able to hear it. Please refrain from interrupting the update once you have approved it.
I5N is fully capable for OTA firmware updates for most modules on the vehicle.
But OTA firmware updates are usually take more time to be pushed to the vehicle versus factory scanner forced update.
