Hello all - I have a very annoying rattle coming from the hatch of my I5. I'ts not super loud, but it's very pervasive - doesn't need much to set it off. It's basically there %85 of the time.
I have put my partner in the boot and she is sure it's coming from the rear hatch - possibly the latch. I opened the hatch and drove for a 100 meters on a back street and the noise was gone. Hatch back down and the noise returns.
Any quick fixes out there anyone know of?

It's extra annoying because the car is so solid and quiet that this noise really sticks out.

Hello I have the same or very similar issue with my I5, were you able to solve the issue? Kind regards Chris Pie Creek QLD

Thank you all, after reading all the posts I looked at both the two side-mounted strike plates and the top-mounted stops. I noticed that the two screw-threaded stops were loose and a bit worn. I assumed that they were that way because they had been under pressure because they were too long and had prevented the two side strike plates from properly engaging. I readjusted the two rubber stops so they were slightly shorter and I used a good quality silicon lube on the strike plates. Happily, the rattle disappeared and as the car has a scheduled service in a couple of months I will wait until then to fully resolve the issue. PS the car didn't rattle at all for the first 6 months of ownership and yes most of our local roads are rubbish so the have been challenging to many of my cars over the years

One thing I did was get a white paint pen and put a small mark on both the barrel that screws out and the body that it screws into when it's fully screwed in.
Makes it easier to watch that both sides are then both screwed out the exact same amount - which I have found is helpful stopping the rattle.

I have a 2023 I5sel and it developed an annoying rattle from the liftgate when the weather is cool (50F). My fix is to apply a small felt strip on the lift bumpers. Problem solved until Hyundai comes up with a permanent fix.

This is a very simple fix. Wrap electrical tape (gaffer or vinyl tape - it probably doesn't matter) around the U=shaped latch on the rear hatch door latch. That's all you need.
