I'm in the UK and had the battery conditioning update installed on my Ioniq 5 Project 45 by the dealer in December and have never seen the snowflake or heater icon on the battery. I experimented with every variant I could think of; navigating to countless chargers, adding chargers as waypoints and more but it never appeared. However, last night I thought to look at the energy consumption screen and I discovered the battery care section went up from 0.0 kW to 4.5kW when I put a DC charger around 20 miles away into the navigation. Therefore it seems the battery conditioning appears to have always been working despite there being no snowflake/heater icon on the battery in my car. Very odd! Maybe others that think it's not working have the same issue?

Photos below of the dashboard so you can see what I mean.

1: No destination in the navigation system. Battery care at 0.00 kW and regular lightning bolt battery icon.

Certainly looks like the PC is working as that consumption is exactly what I see at the start. I understand that you have to have at lest the Nov 22 SW installed for the snowflake of coil to appear.

Sound like it is working. Mine pulls from 4 to 4.5 kw when conditioning. Your best answer would be to get an OBDII dongle and use the Car Scanner app on your phone to see exactly what is going on with the temperature of the battery and coolant. That would give you an exact answer.

As we know, there are apparently a multitude of I5 configurations country to country. I think I MAY have seen somewhere (this forum or another) that in some country(s), the display does not show the coil or the snowflake. No idea if it was UK

Mine in Uk shows the snowflake, but it does seem to depend on what version of the infotainment software you have installed.

I'll check that out tonight. I've got Car Scanner and an OBD dongle with the "dashboard" within the app setup like this:

Am I correct in assuming I should be watching the Batt Min, Batt Max, Battery Inlet Temp and Coolant Temp 2?

I did the latest update to the infotainment system myself a few weeks back using Navigation Updater and upon checking just now it says I have the latest version. The dealer claimed they updated the dealer visit parts to the latest software back in 12/2022 so it's odd you get the snowflake and I don't! All I can assume is there is perhaps a later dealer update that adds this in or perhaps they only did part of the update but it does seem rather odd.

I setup Car Scanner tonight and think I've confirmed the battery preconditioning is working without any indication on the instrument cluster. The battery heater temperature starts rising, the battery temperature increases and the Power increases from 0.85kW to 5.69kW.

I don't have a coil or snowflake in my I5 delivered in september of 2021. Through various forums and facebook groups it seems to only affect the first batch(es) of cars produced. This also rhymes with P45. Pre-conditioning works great in my car, and I've been following it closely with carscanner.

It seems not to be linked with software as many cars have received the BMS update as well as be on the newest NAV software. The common denominator in all cases is the age of the car.

It doesn't make any sense that they cannot get this to show via a software update but apparently that is the case...

Yes, strange. My car was delivered in Dec 21 and I get the snowflake.

Not only does my car not change the lightning bolt to either a coil or a snowflake, but no notification appears on the screen either, but the battery heating does appear to work!

It really seems that this has to do with the age of the car.
My car was delivered in Oct 21 and I get no snowflake/heater icon (had all possible dealer and navigation updates done.)
If only the dealer 2021 had told me there never will be any icon, I would have waited 2 months with my order! ;)

Well, at least I hope to see some icons in my I6 arriving in Q3/2023 ...

Every You-Tuber mentions the red coil wire in the '23 MY. When I tried battery conditioning with a fairly high SoC, I saw only a black coil. Then I used it at the end of a trip. I discovered that the coil (which shares space with the "battery SoC" icon) is BLACK in the blue (remaining battery charge) portion of the icon and only appears RED when it overlaps the gray (empty battery) portion of the icon!
