Norway sales of Hyundai Ioniq nearly triple on-month in November
SEOUL, Dec. 17 (Yonhap) -- Sales of the Hyundai Ioniq electric vehicle nearly tripled last month in Norway from a month earlier, becoming the second-best-selling car among environmentally friendly cars sold there, market data showed Saturday.
In November, the Hyundai Ioniq sold 321 cars, also becoming the seventh-best-selling car among all vehicles sold in the Northern European country.
It marked the first time the Ioniq has been ranked in the top 10 best-selling cars in any country, according to an official from Hyundai Motor Co.
The small electric car made its European debut in August following its global launch earlier in the year.
In the first month of its debut in Norway, the Ioniq sold only nine units, followed by 92 cars sold in September.
The number, however, has been on a steady rise, selling 111 units in October and then 321 in November.
"Sales of the Ioniq are on a steady increase amid favorable reviews in overseas markets," a Hyundai Motor official said. "Sales will likely continue growing on increased global recognition."
