That's why.
It's no secret that Hyundai doesn't retain its resale value as well as other brands. I do think it's improving though.
As far as tech goes, I think it actually probably takes a level of sophistication and technology that most don't have access to to steal a modern car. Older cars were much easier. There is a Ford dealer not far from where I used to live that would deliberately leave their cars unlocked all the time so that potential buyers could poke around even when they were closed. I don't think they ever had theft issues.

I'm bored of my car where can I park it so I can buy a new one?
I'm afraid they'll just take the airbags and wheels and leave the rest.
