In Australia they pledge yearly nav updates for 5 years if you get your car serviced by one of their centres. Though this cant work with the self updater that doesnt appear restricted. The 28kW Ioniq we only got in 2019 and the last update here was Nov 2023 so is within that window. 2018 cars would fall out of that. Be interesting if the 28 drops off this year.

We have got more than 1 update in a year but mostly once a year.

 

When was your Ioniq registered, maybe its now outside of the 5-year free nav updates? The last update I downloaded was the October 23 update - 2023-11-06 on the nav updater.

 

My Apr 2017 28kW last Nav update was the same as yours 2023-11-06 which is more than 6 yrs since first registration. Admittedly updates seem to be less frequent now, but I assume they are still happening and the next will appear towards the end of this year about 1yr since the last.

 

I think they are meant to come twice a year in May and October, but they are usually a little late.
We can probably expect an update at the end of June

 

Just saw on the MapNSoft site (which fuels updates for Hyundai, Kia and Genesis) that the June 2024 update (System & Map Update Version 18.0) has now slipped to July 2024.

Having free map updates is one of the things I like about this car! Otherwise I'd have to switch to GMaps via Android Play which is just messy.

I wonder if there is a way to update the SD card directly or side load the updates, should they stop supporting this at some point?

 

Just noticed - again, on the MapNSoft site that the semi-annual Nav + system update for the Ioniq - originally scheduled for June 2024 and then pushed to July 2024 - is now delayed until AUGUST 2024. Meaning it will be 9 months since the last update in October 2023...

The SD card must be 32GB or less
The system can not read anny bigger then 32GB

 

As it's 2020, this is a 38 so uses a USB drive not the SD card in the 28. USB drive can be up to 64GB.

Probably obvious but you're selecting the right car/variant in the Navigation Updater app I assume? Ioniq Electric > 2020-21 Ioniq Electric. The fact your formatting as exFAT and given the error message, it must be incorrect software for the model.

The key here is to select the USB as the target drive for the update files, then let the updater download and populate the USB drive.
I have used this method successfully for the last 3 years using the same SanDisk 32gb USB:

 

The updater software should do the formatting and copying. You do not have to do it yourself from the download location. I used a 64GB usb drive the last time and it worked on our 38.

 

The delays with the infotainment updates are puzzling. It's known that the UK often receives these updates later, but the schedule has shifted significantly from the original November and May release dates to now include June, July, and even August.

 

Oddly the new update is available in Oz. We usually get it last.

Won't be much for us apart from map updates as we don't have ISL on our cars and I never use it for charging station information.

I updated yesterday but only used the car for about an hour today; everything looks and feels the same to me. Granted, I haven't had time to explore the menu's in depth yet. Does that count?

 

Did mine this morning. Mrs used it for 30 minutes or so and didn't come back with any comments so I guess it's all good. BlueLink still works etc. .... until it expires on 31 Oct, at which time - I don't know.

 

Anyone have any guess on when this update will make an appearance in North America (US/CA)?

 

I installed it a couple of days ago with no problems.
The behaviour of the volume settings on Bluetooth media has changed as they said. Just different, not any better or worse.
I haven't noticed anything else much.

Ugh, my head unit has been getting a little glitchy, and I've been hoping that a refresh of the flash ROM with the next update will cure it. Hopefully it holds out long enough to get there...

 

Ioniq Ev 22 Plate UK: I updated mine the other day, Bluelink reports that the update failed yet it went through the process with the usb stick in rebooted and headunit reported it as a success. Same thing happened with the Oct 23 update and that worked fine too as I got all the POI places etc... Not noticed anything different to be honest. Had the car around a month and still loving it.
