Not sure what options people may have tried or discussed here and cannot find much mention... so...
I do a lot of long distance night driving here in Australia.
Seeing wildlife at a distance is almost mandatory to help avoid accidents, not to mention most roads out of the ciry have virtually no lighting.
The combination of higher speeds, quiet and dark roads, need for longer vision ahead etc, really necessitates driving lights, however i am reluctant to spoil and
interfere with the good looks of the car's front end.
If anyone has any ideas, including perhaps replacement of both low and high beam LED replacments etc,, and including any additionals that suit the vehicle, i would be most please to hear more !. thanks.

What have you done to mitigate this issue on other vehicles? Probably applicable to your Ioniq5 as well.

Yours seems to be a great case of needing additional heavy-duty mounted lights, done so as to minimize aerodynamic drag and aesthetics to the extent possible. That could be a roof-attached light bar with quick-disconnect electrics so the whole thing could be removed when desired, although hardly aerodynamic. I don’t have specifics, but they would be based on your local availability anyway. Probably not helpful, sorry.

I have installed a 20” Strands Nuuk Black LED bar under the registration plate. A lot of Norwegian owners have done the same.

I’m not too happy that it sticks out, so I will be remounting it so it’s more flush with the registration plate.

I followed this YouTube video on how to install:

Thanks heaps for this Spoonfl...
I will look up the light output specs, but does it make a significant difference?.
Also , how much does it protrude forward and is it possible to do what you mentioned about making it flush?
How does the finished job look like? (or look a bit ""add on" ?
Thanks

It’s a big difference, the high beams are meh. Okay for roads with street lights but completely poor for roads with no lights or Nordic winters where we only get a few hours of daylight. I’ll try to take some pictures soon.

Yes, they do look “add on” but the functionality is more important. I have already had an accident with a deer and having better lighting is paramount.

Getting a flush fit will depend on the LED bar and the mounting option. Some have had to trim some of the bumper off (which I don’t want to do). Some pictures of flush fitting LED bars from IONIQ Facebook group.

that led bar isnt going to throw light in a far distance, its pretty much a glorified fog light
Yeah I know, luckily I only need to light up the road about 500m ahead and not use it as a lighthouse.

It’s also too bright for fog (just lights up the fog and impairs your vision) so I have to switch it off, the same for snowstorms.

Thanks Spoonfc and other comments.
We don't have many problems with fog and especially snow storms here in Australia...
I like the idea of the smoke coloured lens. I have contacted a few suppliers for a 50inch dual row curved bar.
Your suggestion has got me to consider mounting solutions and the option of a larger curved bar above the number plate. (Away from sensors and using available area here).
So far, no luck with the smoke color...
Thanks for the pics as it still sits more flush than I had imagined.
ps.
I'd be interested if anyone has wired up the driving lights with simple relay pickup from the high beam supply to existing lights.. Is the light supply to high beam fairily accessible ?
thanks.

Thanks very much for this spoonfc. They do look significant vs the standard high beam. I had decided to fit and order a dual row 30inch l.
It arrived yesterday. Im looking for how to access 8nto that area above the vent doors now if anyone has ideas. Otherwise I'll keep this thread updated. Thanks again.

And maybe got a snag?...I checked in the position shown the proximities not effected, but I'm seeing the light would cover what I thought were covered screws. They may be some other sensors. Can anyone confirm please?

If I cannot put it over these things, I can position the light above, although not my preferred spot....I'm also still trying to work out how to get into behind this front bumper? Thanks
