I have been driving my Ioniq5 for about 3 weeks. When I first got it, it was charged up to close to 300 miles. Ever since the first week, the max I will get when the battery is at 100% is roughly 266 and now it seems to have dropped again to around 250 after receiving a full charge, I have used Level 1, 2, and 3 chargers since I got the car. Is anyone else experiencing this? The dealer said it was because it is an adaptive system but I don't know if that applies here???

Follow this receipt to get the WLTP/EPA.

My biggest problem, especially during winter, is to find somewhere with a temperature of 23 degrees centigrade (73,4F)

Short trips, high speeds, rain/snow, wind and especially temperature, will lower your mpkWh.

This is a “problem” on all cars, I have never had a EV or ICE that I managed to reach the promised mpg through a whole year.

Worst was my XC60 with the bigger Diesel engine, I never got above half the promised mpg.

I understand your concern as I had the same. When I got mine it was charged to 50%, I brought it home and slow charged with the regular outlet and given cable to 100% and it reported like 345 miles. When I got in to drive it did drop significantly and did change frequently on later charges due to the adaptive nature... however I wanted to check the 303 mile rating myself so I fully charged a few days ago and drove in ECO mode with the assigned level 3 braking.

On full charge i had gotten 315 miles; due to my commute elevation I gain and lose depending on direction and also temp (still cold so using a wee bit of heat in the a.m.) but I was able to drive about 275 miles before getting down to 10% with 30 left on the range which satisfied me in being able to adjust my driving style and braking to increase that.

Would suggest you do your own test to validate... you probably have already seen how using climate and adjusting the braking affect the range for your driving style. For sure the 303 you will not achieve unless you are in ECO mode though.

Outside air temperature and of course driving style will affect this number greatly! It is definitely possible to achieve these numbers, but almost impossible during the winter.

You will see that if you drive locally in town during the summer (maybe some LIGHT highway driving in town) that you will achieve these numbers.

Sounds like you've been driving it the way it should be driven, not the way the testers drive it to get the best figure possible for the marketing documents :D

The range is always a dynamically changing estimate based on previous driving / energy consumption and current state of charge of the battery pack. I'd say don't sweat it and just enjoy the car, but know that if you need to get 300 miles out of it between charges, you'll have to drive very carefully without things like the AC.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone. It seems a lot of you are charging the car regularly up to 100% SOC. This is NOT recommended to do on a regular basis, especially if you're not road tripping the car and just driving locally. The reasons are well documented on this forum as well as all the other EV forums. But for those not familiar, regular charging up to 100% can cause excess stress / wear on the battery. If you are just driving the car locally (IE, not driving 200+ miles at a time), consider setting the maximum SOC level to 80% or less in the car's settings. Try to limit your charging all the way up to 100% for only when you need to road trip the car. Your battery will reward you with less degradation over time.

I’ve had my RWD Ioniq5 for about a month now and the first week this same thing happened to me. I’d hardly think I could have a degradation of battery at this point. And when I spoke to the dealership and they said the thing about adapting to my driving, well the first week I drove it home from LA to Sacramento. Since then I’ve only driven in town so I’d think it would revert again but I’ve never had over 258 if I do charge up to 100%. Which I’ve only done a couple of time now.

I see this a LOT and I am thinking. Why not just enjoy the car and not worry about battery degradation. If you have 80% after 10 years, then you would be no less off than always only using 80% and having 90% after 10 years, no? You will still only use 80% anyways, right? :)

That said, I do agree that one should not short cycle the battery, if you have 80% charge and you KNOW you won't go far the next day, why not just let it go for couple more days and plug it in when it drops below 40%.

It's your vehicle and you do what you like. It's easy enough to set the car's charge limit to 80% so you can charge every day at home at not exceed it. I have no hesitation about going above 80% if I know I'm going to use it in short order. Very few people drive the entire range of the car on a daily basis, so why commit yourself to the practice of going to 100% when it's completely unnecessary? An OBD reader can give you an idea of battery health, so in theory a well informed buyer (or dealer) can look at that info if you ever wanted to sell your car. Why not keep that value the highest you can? It helps preserve some of the overall value of your car and gives you more flexibility.

There is nothing wrong with your car. Read the sticky thread about how the range calculation (GOM=Guess o meter) works. It’s an estimation of your range based on your recent driving habits. Drive a lot on the freeway at fast speeds, this number will go down. Drive slowly, the number goes up. Read the sticky.

I am way over the EPA mileage in the summer. AWD and I have managed 320 miles on a full charge. The winter time it isn't possible though.

It is probably easy to explain to people in terms of cell phones (which they have plenty of experience).

Phone batteries NEVER lasts as long as manufacturers claim it to be (like my phone Samsung Z Fold 3 = all day life claimed by samsung).. Unless you use it mostly for just calls and texts with minimal screen use. If you play games, it won't last more than few hours.

Same thing here, If you drive like granny at 25-50mph in ideal condition (60-80degrees in temps) with very slow acceleration then yes. It can go 303miles with 100% charge (probably even go further). However, that is not how we typically drive nor how much we typically charge either.
