I hope you all are right that the Ioniq does compression braking. Re: COVID, no idea when I will take a long trip or to where but I look forward to checking out this scenario.

Our previous vehicle (Honda Civic Hybrid) used to rapidly charge the tiny hybrid battery on the down hills of West Virginia (for e.g.) especially after they did a dreaded software update that "extended" battery life (by basically using it a lot less 😡), and then would speed up down hills with not much eCVT "gear" braking. Having a real transmission should make this interesting and easy to compression brake w/ zero or near zero petrol usage.

I used engine braking on a steep descent a few days ago and the dashboard was showing that fuel is burned... But I was not at 100% SOC. Also the engine braking was not strong at all as in a regular ICE car.
