Water intrusion could be the cause of 2 electrical shorts one month apart that triggered several error messages with my new (less than 2 month old) IONIQ5. I figured the best way to keep the community posted and hear others' experiences is to take a date log approach with periodic commentary depending on how long this drags on.

Jan 12 2023 - 15 miles - Picked up my new 2023 IONIQ5 AWD Limited
Feb 08 2023 - 112 miles - "Check side view mirror warning light" first appears, then appears occasionally each time I drive, more annoying than distracting.
Feb 09 2023 - 152 miles - Dealer service diagnosis problem caused by electrical short in a wire, left driver mirror needs replacing. "Will take 2 weeks to order, another week to get it painted".
Mar 06 2023 - 709 miles - On the day before my appointment to get the mirror replaced, 7 new additional errors appear, fairly frequently and repeatedly. These are more distracting while driving as I push down on steering wheel right button to discard them as they occur.
Mar 07 2023 - Dealer service replaces mirror, diagnoses the 7 new errors are caused by second electrical short, this time in wiring harness they say is a different component than the mirror problem. Part will be available in 3-5 business days next week. I'm given a loaner ICE Sonata. I ask if there was any water intrusion that could tie the 2 problems together. Service Manager confirms TECH DID NOTICE WATER INTRUSION, says they have not seen this commonly in IONIQ5 but were aware of some OTHER Hyundai model that had it where a recall was involved. They opened a case with Hyundai on my problems.

Anyone else have electrical problems and related error messages attributable to water intrusion?
Did you have problems repeat?
Your Model year?
Did Hyundai get involved?
Any permanent solution for your vehicle?

I passed along your good question in a text to the Service Manager asking for more specifics on exactly where water intrusion was observed for both the mirror-related wiring electrical short and the more recent "wiring harness" one as well. I can tell you I did not see any sign of water/moisture/cloudiness/haze/etc in and around the mirror itself.

Service replied this morning "we are unsure of exactly how or where water intrusion happened. When replacing the parts we will hopefully find root cause but with water it is difficult." I'm hoping Hyundai will offer some guidance based on the case opened with them.

Took delivery in early November in the PNW, so it's been through a somewhat moist season; no water intrusion issues to date (that I'm aware of).

OP, do you by chance use high-pressure car washes, or do you think this intrusion is strictly environmental?

Thank you for your reply and a good question, but my vehicle has only been through a car wash once, on Feb 14th, to rinse off the salt after a light rain/snow mix here in New Jersey (where we've barely had any snow at all this winter). Sure they have undercarriage sprayers, but I'm sure you'll agree that date does not correlate to either of the 2 wiring episodes I've had so far.

If the root cause IS water intrusion, maybe it's from the occasional light rain and highway spatter I've had? Seems hard to accept. In the 8 weeks I've had my IONIQ5 I've only had to use the wipers a handful of times and even then not in any steady rains. (My mere 700+ miles is also because I was away for 2 weeks after picking up the vehicle, am retired, etc.) The part wait and mystery continues, expecting to get the car back by Mar 16-17, although maybe not with some clear answers from Hyundai USA California headquarters.

Ioniq 28 or 38 (not sure which, maybe both?) have had problems with water in the doors. Seems there's an electronic circuitboard with the door-button pressing a PCB-mounted push button, and there's absolutely no water protection for the circuit! So dew could form & short it out. Has caused some vampire drains. If H have taken the same cheapskate approach on I5, expect more of the same!

An update on my electrical short problems:
Mar 08 2023 - Dealer orders rear bumper wiring harness after opening Techline case with Hyundai to diagnose problem and determine repair is not possible and replacement is necessary. Dealer technician "found connector J21 wet inside due to a pin grommet backout causing water to enter and causing connection to fail setting all types of...DTCS (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)".
Mar 15 2023 - Takes 7 days for part to arrive and is installed that afternoon. Vehicle is held overnight for drive testing personally by Service Manager. Vehicle is recharged by dealer service dept. Kudos to Service Manager on all fronts.
Mar 16 2023 - 806 miles - I have my IONIQ5 back. Service Manager says both problems trace back to the same rear area of the car. I am hoping a mere loose grommet was the cause of both problems.

First 24 hours all systems are ok. I hope that this issue is closed. Time will tell.
