If this rumor is true, this would be another possible competitor and we'd get a Hyundai hybrid hatchback. Autoexpress story here:

New 2017 Hyundai i30 to head hybrid range - new spy shots | Auto Express

The article shows spy shots of a goobered-up Elantra hatch that supposedly will get some sort of Ioniq drivetrain for the 2017 model year. I'm very skeptical that the car will be ready by 2017. Of interest is that the spy shots show the vehicle towing a fairly large trailer. If that car has an Ioniq drivetrain, then this is confirmation of towing capability for the Ioniq and Niro. ;)

Not surprised much. Was looking over at Fords line up just last week and noticed they have a Focus EV and right now hatchbacks are picking up interest more than they have in the past. Mixing in an EV powertrain with that just takes it up another notch. Sitting right below the next best practical EV... a CUV EV.

The i30 I believe was said to be their "Leading" vehicle in their electric segment. I wonder why that opposed to the Ioniq itself ?
