So, I just bought these mud guards, and I was wondering what your experience was.
I also had to hollow out the front ones holes. About a year ago I bought this below, and used some of its pieces for the rear bottom ones and tossed the factory ones. Other then that they seem very sturdy. Been good so far.So, I just bought these mud guards, and I was wondering what your experience was.
On the front guards, the holes were too small to receive the clips. I had to widen the holes with a 5/16" drill bit for the clips to get through. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but I do worry that they are only attached by two small clips.
On the rear guards, I was able to get the screws in, but I had trouble again with the bottom clips. The provided clips went through (with some struggle) the guards and partway into the bumper. However, I can't get the insert into the clip to lock it in. I think that, since they won't insert fully into the bumper, they don't have the room to fully expand.
Did you run into anything similar? I wrote the seller on Amazon to explain what I ran into, but figured I'd reach out to you to hear about your experience.
Hah, ok. I had actually bought those same clips a few years back when I was installing stuff on my old Honda Civic. I used the little guys in the box's bottom-left (6.2mm diameter) on the underside of the rear mudflaps for this installation. I wish they were a bit taller to have a more firm grip, but they seem ok for now. The mudflaps themselves seem really good; it was just the mounting process that made me feel a little iffy.
