Charge indicator lights

Hello all.
Just got my ioniq 5 ultimate, and got a quick question.
Is there any way of turning off the charging leds on the charging port? It’s not ideal that during charging the leds are flashing
At night they are going to light up my drive and and draw attention.

thanks

I have not seen any information regarding turning them off in any of the tests on the Ioniq 5 that I have seen!
Could you not stick some masking tape or similar over them?

That’s what I will have to do, unless I’m told different. Just very annoying on such an expensive car.
Any other ideas? I’d have though that it would turn off after a couple of minutes rather than be on all night.
A bit of black insulating tape will do the job.

If you cut it nicely then it'll look just fine.

I suggested masking tape as it is relatively easy to remove when requires!

You could even make your own 3D printed cover (although I think I'd rather take the "Blue-Peter" route & cover a bit of old lino with Sticky-back-Plastic)

That looks brilliant and more importantly gives me an excuse to buy a 3D printer!
Thanks so much for sharing the link.
Do you remove it before the charge port is closed?

I've not got one - you can tell us about it after you've made one :D
No, there is no way to turn of the charging indicators. I asked Hyundai customer service about this a while ago as I don't relish the idea either of attracting unwanted elements during the night. They said they'd add it to a wish list for the factory if more customers complained about it so go ahead and ask for this from your dealer or your country's Hyundai office. I will probably mask it with something also.

Thanks for all your posts everyone. I will contact the dealership and request this be added as well.
Here in the colonies we have something we call gaffer tape. It's black, has a woven texture backing, tears like cloth and has an adhesive that sticks well, lasts out in the weather, and removes leaving no trace. (Though it will fade over time.) Think of higher-quality duct tape. "Gaffer" is a term from the entertainment industry, where stuff needs to be set up quickly, reliably and torn down easily.

Vinyl electrical tape will work, but over time can leave a sticky mess of adhesive.

A colleague with a 3D printer is making me a neater one (as shown in an earlier post), but with a couple of hours going spare, I went full out Blue-Peter mode this afternoon & made a Charging cover out of some foam packing - on my 4th attempt!
Tried to use my hot blade cutter, but in the end I found it cut better with a sharp razor, & I just used the hot blade to embellish the I5 on its front.
Will I ever use it? - Not at home anyway, as the flashing lights mean its easier to view its charging status on the security cameras :D

Seems it would be easier to use window tint, and add 1-2 layers to dim them down, and at the same time get the intended use out of them.

I've printed a couple of these - one in "remove before flight" red and a black one to be a bit less obvious.

And the charge port lid/door can still close with that on? :)

Just tried to close the flap with the 7mm thick high density foam version - Its a Fail (n)

Yeah, I expect you'll need to have max a couple of mm thickness. Someone made the 3D version linked above and it also was too thick for the lid to close. Don't know the thickness of that one.

The 3D print model is 2mm thick, but it's easy to scale. The ones I printed I made 1.6mm and you could probably go down to 1mm if you wanted and it would still be robust enough. I don't have the car yet to test if it will close.

My nephew made one of these for me with his 3D printer, and has made a few more to sell on ebay. If anyone is looking for one then search for ioniq 5 charge light cover if you're interested.

Great! Are these thin enough for the lid to close normally? Also, could you check with him if he will ship abroad?
