Hows the new car? Any photos?I went with black, strange that when I ordered they called it "Phantom Black", but this year they changed it to "Abyss Black".
Mine called and asked if I wanted to convert the ultimate (I was on their dealership list) to a luxury - he can have it built in the same colour and interior if I wanted it. Perhaps he was offering something after the first few shipped allocations of the luxury. It was a coincidence because I emailed earlier to cancel my spot on their list, and he called back to offer a luxury before any information was made available on it. I already picked up my ultimate the week before and while the cover remains closed most of the time, it's amazing to have the shades drawn back - the $900 difference is not nearly enough of an incentive if you're not in a rush for a car.The way I read and notice. It seems like the luxury was just built and shipped and then allocated to dealers, by the time my sales guy found out, it was already on the way.
Ah thats great info. For me, I kinda talked myself out of the moonroof just to get the car earlier. This is testing my patience to the max. My reasoning was I had sunroof in my last few cars and never use it. Saw on the internet people had chipped moonroofs and had trouble getting parts for it. But the airnesses and the potential chance of sitting back and looking at the roof to see the stars was tempting for me . that's amazing, can't wait to see your next update with photos of your i5Been waiting a long time for our Ultimate to come in (ordered December 22, 2021), but got the call from the dealership last week: car is being built/shipped and our ETA is end of June! There is still hope for everyone patiently waiting, we were told September when we called in January.
you are 260 ahead of me I also have a teal so if yours was just shipped mine would have been shipped near end of July, There is two weeks at sea, at least a week before unloading, 4 to 5 weeks to get out of Vancouver and a week or ro to get to dealer. I would have Sean mine near end of September, glad I switched to LuxuryBeen waiting a long time for our Ultimate to come in (ordered December 22, 2021), but got the call from the dealership last week: car is being built/shipped and our ETA is end of June! Yes picked up, but haven't had time to take any photos yet, been busy at work. Got the extended warranty, declined on the other dealer packages. Considering doing ceramic paint coating. Will post a picture or two later on.Hows the new car? Any photos?
Any added protection packages?
extended warranty pros/cons have been discussed somewhere in this forum; I am curious as to your reasons to get it (and how much you agreed to pay for it, if you don't mind). Will soon be facing similar choiceYes picked up, but haven't had time to take any photos yet, been busy at work. Got the extended warranty, declined on the other dealer packages. I do not know what they charge to have ceramic done but I have been doing my Ioniq plugin for the last 2 1/2 years and it is easy and works well, they dust seams to blow off it when you drive itYes picked up, but haven't had time to take any photos yet, been busy at work. Congrats! Which dealership? I got my at OpenRoad Richmond.thanks to ioniq5bob,weschan and others for their updates, so i can kinda predict mine. Just got a call from the dealership last night at 8pm while i was out and left a voice mail. Called back this morning 30 mins ago and they said car is ready to pick up, so heading there tomorrow.
Since my serial # is pretty close to bob's, he should get it on that week of the 9th or so, that's my guess!
woohoo!
on the side note, supposed to get my l2 charger installed tomorrow, but darn guy had to reschedule, trickle charge it will be

Same here - no timeline on the Ultimate but Luxury expected by end of the year, but no guarantees. What was the difference in time between a luxury and ultimate trim?
For me it was going to be a few years wait for the ultimate.
Thanks for the summary. It’s a little more complicated than that; here’s a small summary. Dock workers are unionized and short staffed so they’ll work their hours and go home. There’s only so many spots available in Vancouver to hold all the cars coming in by boat from all manufacturers, not just Hyundai. Holidays compound this problem because the ships keep sailing in but there’s no one to offload. Regardless, there’s a backlog of ships at anchor, sometimes waiting days for their berth to open up. If you look at the holding lot at dock, it’s at the point of saturation.
then there’s customs having to sort through all these cars and do paperwork. Then finally there’s the problem of having these cars moved to trains or onto trucks - unionized workers only!
its also a small sign of the times as well… you have this backlog because not too many people have the appetite now to buy a new car.
Wow great news for you (and for me probably). My car could be on the same train as you. When did you receive your VIN and is it a Luxury package Ioniq 5? What is the last 6 digit of your VIN ?thanks to ioniq5bob,weschan and others for their updates, so i can kinda predict mine.
