Anyone got any experience of logging a warranty call with Hyundai for Alloy Wheel Corrosion recently?
Got it on all four of my alloys, no kerbing damage and never been kerbed as far as I know, only damage is the white worm under the
lacquer.
Took it to local dealer (UK) who took pictures and logged it with Hyundai but claim was rejected as they say there is kerbing damage, local dealer agrees with me that there isn't any kerbing damage but Hyundai have told them that warranty claims decisions cant be reversed.
A similar thing happened to me quite a few years ago with a one year old MX5 which was covered by a 3 year guarantee, the Mazda sales dept were particularly obnoxious about it.
I threatened to take them to the small claims court, we compromised, they eventually paid to have the wheels refurbished.
All four of mine have corroded. Took it to my local dealer who took photo's, sent them off to Hyundai who agreed it was a manufacturing defect and they are being replaced tomorrow for a refurbished set. Car is just over 2 years old.
Had same rims, mine also started to get some white worms already after one summer season (the winter season here in Sweden requires a second set of wheels)
never opened a warranty case against Hyundai, if I got new wheels, only to find out the next year that the quality of them was no better?
Also, I didn't think they looked good, got a set of aftermarket wheels instead, same type with clear lacquer over polished alu, but not a worm so far.
Quick update - due to eddyjo and another work colleague having same issue and both getting replaced under warranty, put a complaint in via customer care team and its back with warranty team waiting on another verdict, so fingers crossed lol
Did you hear back from the warranty team about this? I have the same issue with my 2021 September i20. I booked it in at my local hyundai service, but worried they'll reject the claim based on what I've read on forums.
On my 38kwh had my alloys replaced last year due to corrosion under warranty. New alloys now have same problem after winter. Any one had this ongoing problem with wheels. Both set of alloys have no curb damage.
